XYZ's signature collection returns in the form of Blanche - an annual series focused on collaborating with many of the artists who will carry the torch in 2023, and shining a refreshed light on their art in the early days of the new year.

From groovy to melodic, percussive to ethereal, Blanche represents the beginning of our explorations 2023's musical landscape. With newcomers and label favorites alike, the six track release continues to harvest XYZ's creative direction as an artist-first label, purveying talented and innovative producers with an insightful story to tell.

Leading the line is a Romanian-bred collaborative project between Bross and VICTHOR. Rich drum rhythms greet a delightful piano melody, as Piece, Peace sets us on our way with a truly beautiful offering.

The Turkish maestro Gadi Mitrani debuts on XYZ with Robot With a Heart. Synthetic tones enter the fold over a hearty hook, igniting the groove on this pearl of a production.

We revisit Erdi Irmak’s instant classic, I Can Find, with a freshly squeezed remix from Montreal’s own Oiseau de nuit & Laure. With a lifelong bond rooted in a shared love of music, this brother-sister pairing brings an after-hour tilt, opening space for rich melancholy.

As a new dawn arrives, we’re thrilled to welcome back Quebec’s Monarke to XYZ. There’s Still Time fosters a progressive sizzler, with swirling soundscapes pushing us deep into the solar system.

Canada’s Tyler Mesa returns to the imprint with a heady heater, showcasing his range and innovation in the studio. Serene Dream is all about the synthetic hook, which ebbs & flows perfectly over a masterful melody. A soon-to-be club classic from Mesa to kick off the year.

Closing out our third edition of Blanche is our beloved Brazileiro - Maty Owl - who provides an instrumental version of his recent remix for Erdi Irmak. Keep ears tuned, as we have lots more Maty Owl material coming in the near future!

Bross, VICTHOR - Piece, Peace [Snippet]

Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint opens the month of March by showcasing new interpretations of Jean Caillou’s ‘Simplon’. Released in March of last year, the five-track showcase was not only a prime example of the Swiss artist’s creative attitude but a highlight in the label’s catalog. Supported by deep and organic DJs alike, Sound Avenue now looks to bring new life to the project by inviting HAEN, St.Ego, Jayden Klight, Evernaya and Umannto to re-imagine it for 2023’s spring season.

Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Down’ is St.Ego. Hailing from Russia, St. Ego first emerged last year with a release via label subsidiary 3rd Avenue. Smooth and organic in equal measure, the three-track offering caught the attention of organic house fans for its deep and musical approach. The following six months would see St.Ego go on a creative swell, releasing five more projects for 3rd Avenue while also adding Bekool Records, Dreamers, Nordic Voyage and more to his resume. Now embarking on his biggest remix project to date, St.Ego makes his Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous rendition of ‘Down’.

This spring saw seasoned XYZ contributor Koelle team up with multi-instrumentalist Reza Safinia on Reverie, a two-sided offering which saw the union of electronic tones and orchestral influences into a dance floor affair. As the fall arrives to Montréal, we're pleased to present our biggest remix compilation to date. 6 artists from the over the broad melodic house & techno spectrum will offer their versions of the tracks over the weeks to come. Here is Vol.1 of the Reverie remixes, featuring Lovecraft, Niki Sadeki and Ian O'Donovan.

Lovecraft takes his time to set the mood on his take of 'Reverie'. Floating chords rest on an arp which keeps on building up until the break. That's when the main hook comes in, carried by a rolling bassline continuously building in energy.

Offering the first remix of ‘Into The Woods' is Niki Sadeki. Her take on the song embraces an upfront arpeggio and a pumping ride cymbal. These core elements offer the backdrop as the arrangement is rounded by chimes, lush pads and counter-melodies.

True to his style that made him a pillar of the label since the early years, Ian O'Donovan goes in with a proper roller of a tune, first establishing a riding hat groove laying on the bass progression. The iconic horn from the original is then unleashed, leading into a break which sees the harmony develop in full effect. O'Donovan finally sprinkles an acid layer to the bass, an exclamation point to the driving track.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue returns, presenting new interpretations of Agustin Basulto’s ‘Regen’ EP. Originally released in March of 2017 it found the Argentinean artist showcasing his diverse sonic palette across four tracks, one of which received an excellent remix from Pole Folder.
Now as 2018 moves into the spring season Sound Avenue invites Roger Martinez, Adam Husa and label boss Madloch to reinvent a cross section of the EP.

Adam Husa has been making his mark on the deep house underground over the last year. Hailing from Montreal, the Canadian artist is not only responsible for some of the city’s finest events but has also showcased his music on flora and Magician On Duty. Now making his much anticipated Sound Avenue debut Adam provides a unique take on ‘Tercir Desliz’. Following a DJ friendly intro full of anticipatory vibes; warm bass swells, organic percussion and subtle but oh so gorgeous harmonics shift the energy into a glowing second act. Cascading, carnival-like motifs combined with dynamic stabs add an emotive energy to the rolling groove, completing this captivating seven minute journey.

The team behind XYZ and When We Dip is thrilled to depart on a new exploration in the form of TOR. Stemming from our beloved Dancefloor Romancer branch, TOR will serve as a partner for XYZ in the purveying of quality dance music. The driving force behind the When We Dip label family remains providing an honest and effective platform for some of the scene’s most deserving producers. TOR expands our ability to connect with such artists to form long term partnerships, garnishing a true collective within dance music.

As we venture forth with TOR’s first release, we are very excited to have Wassu at the helm. The New Yorker has turned heads over the last year with a string of enthralling releases on the likes of Anjunadeep, Silk Music, and Immersed. He has a firm grasp on warm melodies, crafting smooth and gracious high ends, which he rests on sturdy grooves and boastful basslines. His calm demeanor and genuine aspirations make Wassu the perfect pilot of TOR’s inaugural release.

Easing us to the EP’s finale is Sabu. Drums guide the way as somber melodies float through a tune that is equal parts melancholic and hopeful. A lovely breakdown harnesses stunning strings, before reigniting the kick to great effect. Sabu is the perfect closer to a magnificent trio; an EP that represents a new journey for artist and label alike, offering luminescence during these turbulent times.

Through his love of exploring progressive realms of music, the Sydney-based Australian DJ/Producer Zankee Gulati is rapidly making his mark on the scene. A blossoming production career has already seen him exhibit his immense talents on the likes of Clinique, Soundteller, Particles, Visceral, Balkan Connection, and most recently, The Soundgarden. His remix of December has seen exclusive early support from Hernan Cattaneo on his Resident radio show, and it is easy to see why.
