Our first Stripped Recordings release of 2019 is here and we proudly present an artist we've watched from afar whilst he's been working his magic for labels such as Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat and Nick Warren's Hope Recordings. In 2018 he released one of the years biggest progressive house records on Nick Warren's latest imprint The Soundgarden the track "Sandwaves" was played by a large cross section of dj's around the globe and still is to this day. 

The artist we are talking about here is Egyptian producer Black 8  from the nations capital Cairo (who's production career started in 2006). Here he has delivered his first Original track since that mega hit to us, and we are honoured to have him and  "Valley Of The Kings" {Original Widescreen Edition} which comes as a stand-alone track clocking in at just under 11 minutes that has had us pressing play over and over and we hope that you will all do the same once you hear it.

With Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat making waves over the past 12 months, Proton Music is delighted to showcase "Spiral Patterns" with a high-profile remix from a Brazilian superstar.

From Cali, south-west of the Bogota capital, Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat have seen their career trajectory rise steeply over the past 12 months. With over 300 productions credits to his name, Sanclemente is no stranger to the underground production scene. Making a 2013 debut on Suite 7 Records, the Colombian has gone on to feature on a host of blue-chip imprints with Parquet, Einmusika and Perspectives Digital frequent supporters of his progressive sound. Indeed, it was with the latter that Sanclemente has had particular success. Centred around the "El Sol/La Luna" in collaboration with fellow countryman, Golan Zocher, October 2018's "Cosmosphere" saw a Sanclemente and Dabeat collaborate for the Darin Epsilon imprint. A regular on Particles, August 2017's three-track "Revelations" EP was followed by May 2018's "Eva". A remix of Imran Khan's "Arrival" saw the pair join forces for the first time on the label so it a pleasure to welcome them back with a debut original track. Oozing with class and a mature production style, "Spiral Patterns" builds upon a ticking percussive framework and strong beat as a cavernous glissando bassline provides depth. Evolving with consummate ease, rippling arpeggios emerge with a central melodic theme, opening up in filtered glory at the mid-point breakdown. A haunting lead reprises the melody post-breakdown and a chorus of pads add textured layers that leads to a rousing denouement in the third movement.

Some artists require no introduction and Brazilian icon, Andre Sobota, is one such artist. Responsible for a string of cross-genre hits that carry a unique flair for melody and rhythm, Sobota's meticulous attention to sound design and percussive detail has found him remixing Coldplay and Rihanna while making multiple appearances on BBC Radio 1. A production career that has witnessed some 500 production credits across a plethora of renowned labels has seen Sobota's work allied to the likes of Anjunadeep, Toolroom and microCastle, supported by A-list DJs, from John Digweed and Dave Seaman to Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn. A welcome regular on Proton Music, December 2009's "One Day Out" EP set the tone for a half-century of tracks to light up the label with a glorious array of rhythmic variation and coruscating emotive melody. "Signal", "Fragments" and "Unmute" have all followed across the past three years, not forgetting a reinvention of his debut EP in 2014 with "5 Years Outside". A stellar collection of remixes have sat alongside the original material as Andre Sobota returns to rework Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat in typically impressive fashion. Using the central melodic themes from "Spiral Patterns", shimmering pads and motifs emerge, tied to an intricately programmed rhythmic groove. A rich bassline adds substance and depth as the tracks builds to its zenith via a stripped-back ethereal breakdown. Rising and falling effortlessly, Sobota's work is a class apart.

Flowing in constantly evolving circles, "Spiral Patterns" finds Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat flying high with Andre Sobota.

Losless release their debut EP, Chrome, designed to entrance those on the dance floor with its haunting texture and rhythm. Across the four tracks featured on this EP, Losless conveys a deep commandment of the interplay between a song’s arrangement and the club ambiance.

The title track, “Chrome”, makes use of syncopated synthetic tones to add depth to the track’s presentation that entices the listener. Elements introduce and relegate themselves in the quest for providing an evolving experience whilst maintaining a strong foundational rhythm.

A product of the transformative power of dance music, Ede moved Berlin after he experienced something magical while dancing to Ame at Berghain. So enchanted was he by the pivotal moment that he set his sights on making music to be released by Innervisions... And that hap- pened three years later when his track ‘Jenny’ made it into the label’s ‘Secret Weapons 11’ compilation. Ede’s dark, new wave style has also piqued the interest of Jennifer Cardini, who signed his music to a V/A on her Correspondant Music label recently. Now the producer joins the TAU family for a full EP, featuring four original cuts.

‘Raum’ jumpstarts the collection with menacing allure. Whirring analogue forms the core of this deadly track, keeping it tight in the low end while various layers of synth fizz and snarl. An urgent riff joins the fray, adding depth and energy. Across almost 10 minutes Ede showcases his ability to create a dark atmosphere and imbue his music with spinetingling theatrics. Fans of the riff will be pleased to find a beatless version of ‘Raum’, which will be useful for creating dramatic moments during DJ sets no doubt.

On side B, ‘Zeit’ brings the pace down slightly. A melancholy synth line evokes feelings of sorrow, while the beat pumps along. Ede uses the full 8 minutes of this track to really build the tension, finally unleashing it halfway through. This could easily be used on the soundtrack for a cyborg action movie set in the future.

Last up, ‘Unendlichkeit’ is a further demonstration of Ede’s love of futurism, new wave and film noir circa 2080. Here he tells a story with the machines, each one adding their contribution to the narrative which gets more and more chaotic as the tune progresses.

A very impressive EP, and we’re sure you’ll agree it’s something quite special.
