Korean-Canadian producer Hyunji-A debuts on TOR with a prolific pairing, showcasing her knack for enticing & emotive grooves. Ticking Clock opens with restrained & floaty drum programming allowing meandering melodics to claim control of the mood. After Dandara and Reza digitally met, they both saw the potential in creating music together. The idea for this EP came from Reza's recent acoustic album "Yin" from which they took different ideas and sounds to create a new story, a shadow to the original narrative.

Shadow of Contemplation reworks the piano in Reza's original "Dhyana", a Sanskrit word meaning Contemplation, this track keeps the meditative nature of the original and takes it on an inward journey of the mind, body and soul.

Shadow of Creation uses a sample from the original, "Shakti", Sanskrit for primordial cosmic energy. This track means to express how the creative source of energy can infinitely transmute.

Shadow of Continuum, is an expansion from a small section of the original "Shiva", a Hindu God who destroys to create, this is the closing thought of the EP, to show how the end of one cycle can be the beginning of another, resulting in a continuum, even if we look for endings and beginnings.

Hyunji-A, known as Hyunji Lee, is a Korean-Canadian music producer and DJ who
moved to Berlin from Montreal. Following years of achievements in the underground
dance scene, which earned her an international reputation, Hyunji-A is now debuting
with an avant-garde release on Armadillo Records. The three-track material
showcases her classical piano background, which she has cultivated since
childhood, alongside her electronic music expertise.
The first track, Staggered Dominos, blends 90s-inspired electronica with her
sensual vocals, prioritizing expressive interpretation and reflecting authentic human
experiences.
The centerpiece, Full of Empty Space, musically embodies the themes explored by
classic science fiction literature. This timeless yet futuristic composition offers a
meditative structure suitable for continuous listening.
The final piece, Goodnight Oppy, transitions from a dark introduction to an uplifting
atmosphere within the first minute, instilling a sense of utopian hope. Its psychedelic
and playful sound reintroduces a drum section and hypnotic rhythmic patterns,
enhanced by arpeggiated structures and improvisational piano segments that
elevate the overall experience.
With this release, Hyunji-A skillfully combines her classical roots with electronic
innovation, offering a thoughtful and dynamic exploration of her evolving sound.
