Joining the duo on the release is none other than Matthias Meyer. The German producer, resident at the renowned Watergate club in Berlin, is globally recognised for his deft touch when it comes to crafting emotive club records and he doesn't disappoint, bringing a signature groove to the original track.

‘Todo Avaricia’ by Reka and the duo Imperial Black Unit is the result of an immediate and natural connection forged between the three artists, through a jam session that swiftly and intuitively yielded three tracks of stylistically diverse yet demonstrably cohesive sounds. Featuring the sampled voices of Che Cuevara, Pablo Neruda and original vocals by Reka herself, the EP plays the role of an urgent call to action against political and environmental injustice, conveyed via the musical substrate of new beat, industrial and EBM, fused into a landscape of techno and undeniably constructed for the dancefloor. 'Plaisirs Sonores Records end a fantastic year on a high with the 'Sky Mirage' EP from Dutch producer, Budakid, alongside two great remixes from Armen Miran and label-boss Hicky & Kalo.

The original track by Budakid exploits the dreamy side of the artist's aesthetic. A walk through a landscape of lush textures and poetic melodic elements.

The in-demand Armen Miran steps up on remix duties, a man always on top of his game. His remix grabs your attention from the off with its tight bassline and vibrant clap fills, giving his re-creation a classic deep house feel. The track delivers a subtle expansion of the original sounds, whilst locking you under its magical spell.

Closing out the EP, Hicky & Kalo finds a beautiful opportunity to exploit the melancholic side of the track with a dive into the deepness of its soul. The pair have crafted a masterful drop that leads to a grand punch as the drums return with great precision. It's a cut crafted to mesmerize the mind.'

Drumcode starts 2020 with a sterling EP from genre hero Thomas Schumacher, his first on the label after a long association with Adam Beyer. No ifs or buts , if you’re a techno fan, Thomas Schumacher holds a place in your heart - his 1997 classic ‘When I Rock’ still gets rinsed today. Thomas has a vast body of stellar work on his influential former label Spielzeug Schallplatten, including a release from Adam Beyer, and he continues to deliver pin-sharp productions via his Electric Ballroom imprint, including a scorching remix of ‘The House of House’, the 1994 classic from Cherry Moon Trax. The rework was first played by Beyer at Time Warp and has been a 2019 highlight. 

He first contributed to Drumcode in 2018 with ‘The Unseen’, a stirring contribution to ‘A- Sides Vol.7’, setting up a maiden EP with ‘Crimson’. Beginning with the brilliant ‘Feist’, it’s a no-nonsense brain melter, as 303 arpeggios bloom and recede, creating a thrilling rhythmic intensity throughout. The title track ‘Crimson’ is crafted around two minutes of tension-building synths, before a beat finally appears and a rasping deep bassline commands the dancefloor. ‘Anker’ brings the rave with eagle -eye focus, unleashing a wall of fierce acid to round out the pack. 

“Adam and I have both been producing and playing techno since the early‘ 90s. I have deep respect for him as a person and artist. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to collaborate in this way.” – Thomas Schumacher.
