Rider has a firm grasp on the attention of the dance community’s most influential tastemakers, as he continues to unveil a distinct studio prowess.

The team behind XYZ and When We Dip is thrilled to depart on a new exploration in the form of TOR. Stemming from our beloved Dancefloor Romancer branch, TOR will serve as a partner for XYZ in the purveying of quality dance music. The driving force behind the When We Dip label family remains providing an honest and effective platform for some of the scene’s most deserving producers. TOR expands our ability to connect with such artists to form long term partnerships, garnishing a true collective within dance music.

As we venture forth with TOR’s first release, we are very excited to have Wassu at the helm. The New Yorker has turned heads over the last year with a string of enthralling releases on the likes of Anjunadeep, Silk Music, and Immersed. He has a firm grasp on warm melodies, crafting smooth and gracious high ends, which he rests on sturdy grooves and boastful basslines. His calm demeanor and genuine aspirations make Wassu the perfect pilot of TOR’s inaugural release.

Bursting out of the gates on Wassu’s EP is Andu. A house kick carries the fluttering melody from start to finish, but the acid-laced synth work is the star of the show. The muted and gritty groove remains driving throughout, while also allowing space for strings and textures to set the character of the track. It’s a tune directed at the club, and we know it will create special dancefloor moments sometime soon.

As TOR continues to set a strong early foundation, we head to the Meditteranean for an EP bursting with summer flavor and genuine energy. Collaborations are a pillar of the label program at When We Dip, as they capture the community and collective essence of electronic music.

Greek aficionado VieL has garnered a stellar reputation for groove and melody through a string of projects with Tale & Tone, Hoomidas, and Akbal Music. Joining him in the drivers seat are Italian comrades Madraas; a revamped moniker for a longtime partnership, who’ve graced the likes of Soundgarden and Ready Mix Records. The three seasoned producers have come together for a top drawer project, joining TOR in the presentation of the Vires EP.

Setting the stage is the release’s title track, Vires. We dive right into the groove as a crisp kick sets the mood for a track brimming with low frequency. The haunting basslines are infectious, as light percussive rhythms and strings bring character to the breakdown. A late-night tune for vibey dancefloors.

Roques harnesses melancholic melodies for a smooth and dreamy affair. A simple vocal loop plays along in background, as natural textures and swirling synths keep listeners' minds moving.

Rounding out the trio, Omnes brings heady percussion and piano work. Rhythms rotate from the start, and a playful melody brings a sense of cohesiveness to the EP’s closing.

Long before humans were able to count time in days, weeks, months and years, they measured their lives in seasons. Seasons come and go. They define, and help structure, our lives. When we think back, our memories from the past are often framed by the blazing colours of autumn’s leaves, or the warm kiss of a spring breeze.
Without seasons, time slips through our fingers more easily, and our experiences melt into one another. And summer is a special season. A time of freedom, of joy, of coming together. Summers are for journeys. Trips to new and exciting places. Adventures that play out under the heat of the sun, giving life to everything it touches. Exploration and experience, new sensations and new people. It made sense, therefore, to start our musical journey through the four seasons in this most-cherished period of the year: the summer.
Across the 10 tracks on this VA, we have collected a group of tracks that shimmer and buzz with the energy of long, brilliant nights under the stars, but which also capture the unhurried calm of a balmy, carefree summer’s afternoon. From a selection of our favourite artists and friends in the world, Seasons : Volume 1 brings together an extraordinarily talented group of musicians, each of whom has crafted a slice of summer in their track. Some tracks pulse and throb with intense energy, while others take the scenic route, mesmerising us with emotional melodies. One thing is for sure: every artist wants to take the listener on a journey.

Daniel Ray — Honour (Original Mix) [Suprematic]

Having released the acclaimed Be Mine on Crosstown Rebels in 2017, Berlin-based Siopis lands on Rebellion with Unconditional, a poignant two-tracker that features the vocals of esteemed DnB lyricist, MC Coppa.

“An interview with Lauryn Hill inspired me to make this release. It blew me away and I felt it straight in my heart, so I wanted to share the deep message that comes from it. I put her vocals into the break of the lead track, and Unconditional was born.” Siopis.

Beginning with the ethereal sounds of Unconditional, the lead track is a journey into electronic music’s spiritual realm, as supple keys vibrate alongside a gently moving bassline. A sample from Lauryn Hill’s iconic speech acts as the breakdown, before the emotive bassline comes back in to pull deeply on our heartstrings. Kaleidoscope feat. MC Coppa completes the release. Bubbling with subtle hats and dreamy pads, the moving cut takes on a tougher edge with MC Coppa’s stirring monologue, whilst Siopis’ flagship club ready sound features right the way through to form a track that sounds perfect at home, and on the dancefloor.

A prolific producer, Siopis has been carving out a career in electronic music for more than a decade. Previously known under his Silversurfer moniker, he is responsible for some of Crosstown Rebels’ earliest releases, producing 2004’s Parisis and collaborating with Kiki on the seminal Shake Off that same year. Fast-forward to more recent times where continued releases on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels and M.A.N.D.Y’s Get Physical Music have helped define his emotional, dance-oriented sound, whilst frequent performances at clubbing institutions such as Hoppetosse and Golden Gate have established him as a regular on the Berlin circuit. 
With international sets under his belt at the likes of Miami’s Ocean’s Ten and Mexico’s Americana Club Social, the future continues to shine bright for Siopis.
