Brazilian multi-instrumentalist & producer Maty Owl has captured the eyes & ears of global dancers. 2022 was a standout year for Maty, unveiling sensational projects with Saisons and Timeless Moments, plus a tantalizing remix of Erdi Irmak right here on XYZ. We are thrilled to welcome Maty Owl to our TOR with his debut EP on the label - Astral Friend.

On the A-side, White Room opens with crisp percussives and lush landscapes of sound. Afro tones flow seamlessly into the mix, with chopped vocal hooks balanced by pristine piano melodies. A bountiful bassline greets a punchy kick, offering a blissful dancefloor number for the finest of selectors & dancers alike. 

On the flip, Astal Friend welcomes progressive prominence, as effervescent & elongated synthetics capture the imagination. Surging sounds ebb & flow as Owl’s ominous tones ignite the night with afterhours flavors.

Closing out the project is VS, offering a middle ground between it’s two predecessors. Swirling synths rest upon rising melodies, elevating energy to a peak while the bassline goes to work.

Aura, the eleventh volume of the Renascent series, presents 5 fascinating original mixes from the heart of incredible international talents such as Amir Telem (Israel), Tojogo (UK), Ari Fernan (Argentina), Markus Swarz (Germany) and CTP (France).

Renascent is a series of Various Artists releases all focused on the dance floor of daytime parties. The names included along the way are largely emerging and exciting producers from all over the world who are being welcomed into Cigarette Music home for the first time. Each Act is roughly out along every spring and autumn and is followed by a devoted re-mix release, where the concerning original tracks are revised by selected known international producers according to their style.

These tracks are examples of the most emotional and deep style of these producers, full of warm and melancholy harmonies, sinuous chords, sweet vocals, and tribal elements. No doubt that Florian & Minnado have a special symbiosys to make music.

Following INVŌKER’s ‘Superhero’, When We Dip XYZ is proud to present ‘The Chaos Inside’ from Imeïa, who has already been spotlighted on imprints such as Isolate, Frau Blau and Sum Over Histories. On this EP, the enigmatic producer blends impactful grooves, uncharacteristic delays, poignant textures and creative use of silence.

Things start off with ‘Le Pire Pour La Fin’, a deep cut which is led by a slow, drawn-out melody which recedes in favour of the bassline and noise-heavy plucks.
 
The eponymous ‘The Chaos Inside’ brings the energy levels a few notches up. The layered pad and choir initiate a progression of epic proportions over the simple, driving groove. The impacts, risers and glitches all accentuate this feeling of immensity. 

On ‘Elegancia’, the doubled kicks and resounding vocals set the scene for the larger than life lead synth. A subtle acid touch on the bass completes the tune. 

The last track, ‘Blue Romance’ displays the clearest vocals we’ve seen from Imeïa so far. The line ‘I don’t wanna be a fool, I just wanna be a tool’ is repeated throughout the intro and outro. A screaming guitar announces the highlight of the tune, with its uplifting bass pattern and toy-like percussions. An alternate dub mix is also available.
