We welcome Jelly For The Babies and Buba to Monog Records with the superb debut Emocija EP. Both these guys have amassed extensive back catalogues over the years, garnering much respect from their peers. From a young age, JFTB was into electronic music and, since 2007, he has been honing his studio skills in the production of various genres of music. He manages three labels and boasts worldwide support. Buba is considered one of the most promising producers to come out of Montenegro. Currently he is enjoying the release of his studio album – Dreamlands, and we’ve no doubt his creativity will grab a lot of attention. We’re delighted to have both on board.

The Original Mix of Let creates a solid, driving break beat groove. Chunky beats and bright hats are joined by exotic percussions which takes us deeper into the vibe. Dark stabs and a strong, pulsating bass lead us deeper as cosmic synths add a melodic charm to the groove. The break adds serene beach ambience as the synths open up for maximum impact before the beats return for the duration. Not to be missed.

First up on the remix we have Christopher Ivor's Daydream version of Let. Christopher is no stranger to Monog having debuted here with The Dreamscape EP. Growing up with music steered him to take the DJ, producer path he is on now. Over the years his style has become very broad and eclectic and this is something we love to celebrate. Here, Christopher delivers a beautifully composed and enchanting cut with a distinct Balearic vibe that makes you long for a trip to the White Isle. Buttery smooth beats and warm basses are joined by sounds of the beach and that rich, whispered yet hair-raising vocal. Melodic arpeggios become infectious as we’re lured into the mesmeric groove. Top-notch stuff that does not disappoint.

The Original Mix of Talas is a deeper affair, with sub level basses droning on the low end. The bass produces a powerful response with emotive changes, complimenting the rising and intense strings and synths. Rhythmic percussions and a nice punchy kick force you to move while the tensions rise. The break unleashes the full force of the stacked synths, taking us to a higher plain and making this an absolute must have.

Mario Neha debuts on Monog with a wonderful remix of Talas. Switzerland based DJ, producer Mario, boasts a wide and varied catalogue of releases over the years. He runs his own imprint called Inyan Music, releasing quality cuts at every turn. Great to have him here. On the remix here, Mario adds an extra sprinkling of grunt to the groove with those plucky synth basses which are contrasted with wispy pads and scattered FX. Rich and dynamic, the track exists on a multi-layered construction moving between the light and the dark with changing emotions. Beautifully worked and deftly executed, this one is a must have.

Hicky & Kalo join the label with the ‘Solstice EP’.

Montreal natives and resident DJs at the world famous Stereo club, Hicky & Kalo are Canada’s latest greatest export. Both classical trained musicians and University graduates, they have gone on to craft a stellar reputation for their inimitable edge, commitment to the scene and penchant for deep melodic grooves. 

Opening with lead track ‘Solstice’, pretty arps, warm pads and a loose percussive groove are all thats needed. Picking up pace in the midsection with a galloping bass, pressure builds to the final epic break. Employing a rolling tribal groove, ‘Jasmine’ opens with more oomf. Keys, field recordings  and ethereal pads all keep things light. Finally, ‘Tarde de Sentimiento’ takes the EP in wildly different directions. Subtly Indian in sound design, it slowly gathers pace until the climatic break mid way. A solid EP and we welcome the guys to the Sudbeat family.

Guy Mantzur's brand new highly anticipated compilation and a mix album is a love letter to
the genre. So every year just about this time, he celebrates life with an annual blend of his
favorite singles, unifying his fan base in a state of bliss. Instead of traveling the world and
gigging across the 24 time zones, the award-winning artist used the lockdown to meditate on
the preliminaries of his body of work. So as Moses returned from Mount Sinai with
fundamental conclusions, Guy returned with a mixed album of an essential value for the
underground electronic music community.

 Opening the album with his optimistic piece, where Guy greets the future with the courage of
 a world leader, the focus of his fluid musical journey is on passing the torch to talented  producers such as Tamir Regev, Kabi (AR), Kamilo Sanclemente, and Zalvador.

 However, Mantzur never forgets the works of his friends and musical geniuses such as Guy
 J, Sahar Z, Khen, and Eli Nissan, who make the global scene what it is, plus he adds up extra
 flavors of superstars such as Sebastien Leger and Monkey Safari.
 Arranging tracks in a seamless blend where over 90 minutes of music seems like a
 harmonious score oscillating through emotions and abstract moods as well as stimulating
 spontaneous body movement with its driving dance rhythms, Guy makes a perfect example of how things should be done. Have a great time listening!

Although it’s been a year to forget for most of the electronic music scene, we’re happy to say that Nōpi has come through the tumultuous times stronger than ever. He began the year making his debut with us on the inaugural Blanche project, seizing the spotlight with an XYZ instant classic - Mayaya. Since then, he’s graced the likes of TRYBESof, Anjunadeep, and Kindisch, establishing himself at the core of the deep and melodic community.

As a final nod to his defining year thus far, we’re thrilled to have the Ukranianian back on the label to close the circle on 2020. Landscape Cloud is a project we’ve been looking forward to for many months, harnessing the tones that we’ve come to love from Nōpi.

Melfica continues to showcase Nōpi’s percussive mastery, while inviting sparkling melodies into the fold. Orchestral strings brace the bridges, presenting big builds back into the kick, culminating in a pensive and mature production from the Ukranian.

Kicking off 2021 by continuing to support up and coming talents in the modern underground dance arena, Meanwhile begins the year with a twin-track offering from gifted Ukrainian artist, Nōpi, and his sublime “Spoon Light” EP.

One of the brightest stars in the underground house cosmos over the past eighteen months, Nōpi has continued to excel with a raft of original and remix material throughout 2020. An array of leading imprints has thus queued up to feature the Ukrainian’s work with Cid Inc.’s Replug, the ever-reliable, Anjunadeep and Jacob Henry’s Silk Music all releasing original music in the last months of the year; the latter with the mesmerising seven-track “Bila” EP that has seen Nōpi reach a fitting high point at year’s end.

Now debuting on Meanwhile, the title track is a scintillating tour de force that bristles with trademark emotion and glorious melodic brio. Driven purposefully forward with rich, sustained bassline and delicate percussive flair, shimmering pads and muted arpeggio pan the stereo spectrum with ease as ethereal vocal cuts whisper barely heard phrases, rich in reverb and delay. Building in intensity via a glorious breakdown, “Spoon Light” picks up the pace again in the third movement to create a rarely heard emotive intensity as dizzying gated synths add further aural colour.

Partner track, “Creative Sheet” continues the intelligent melodic narrative of its predecessor as an intricate percussive top-line and immaculately syncopated bass groove provide a wonderfully worked rhythmic framework. Evolving seamlessly into the second movement, an expertly woven sonic tapestry reveals itself via panned effects, pulsating white-noise washes and potent synth phrasing. The result is a magnificent illustration of Nōpi’s talent and ability to match groove and melody with poise and purpose.

Bending sonic reality with expert skill and craftsmanship, Nōpi’s “Spoon Light” is full of iridescent colour.
