Here is the 9th volume of the Red Stripe Disco serie. After several months spent to collect the records here selected, I am really happy to present this new episode!

As usual, the selection is based on obscure / misknown Jamaican related Soul/Disco/Funk/Breaks productions of the 70's & Early 80's. All the records selected are strictly JA OG vinyl records.

Please note that I used a few records that were already selected in my WAX POETICS 'Red Stripe Disco' mix, plus a set of new ones & a couple of dubs from already selected records in past mixes. 

I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did when looking & collecting those rare records.

Red Stripe Disco Vol.9 - Selected & Mixed by Waxist

Here is a mix that was recorded for the deep & famous "Secret Rendez-Vous" blog out of NYC, ran by DJ Love On The Run. The mix has remained exclusively on the website for a few months now & decided to share it directly with my followers.

As you can expect, it's a mix made of the best Red Stripe Disco tracks played elsewhere in the serie. If you already know the mixes & edits, you most probably heard them here & there, but not in that specific assembly. As you can guess, it's only about rare JA soulful vinyl music, ranging from Modern Soul to Disco, through Funk, Boogie or Soul... All OGs obviously, apart from a couple of edits!

Still I hope you'll dig the selection & share it to your music friends !

Red Stripe Disco Mix For Secret RendezVous [US]

Episode 10th. 

I am very happy to provide this new Red Stripe Disco mix. Very first volume was recorded & put online about 3 years ago. I never expected to collect enough records to provide 10 mixes but finally here it is. 

As usual, you will find in it, apart from a couple of more obvious songs, rare & obscure Jamaican related Funk / Disco / Modern Soul & Soulful Reggae. 
Thus, this new episode is a selection of under the radar or hard to get records involving Jamaican musicians & producers, from the late 70's / early 80's, that I am bringing to you with luv!

All of the songs here are selected from the original vinyl source, a majority of it having been released in Jamaica (the remaining was released in the UK). Please apologize the crackling on some of the songs, but I wasn't able to source better copies... The Jamaican way! :)

Let's go deep into Jamaica funky music!

Finally, here is a new RED STRIPE DISCO delivery with this 11th episode. As usual, very happy to have been able to cook a nice mix of Jamaican / Reggae-related Modern Soul, Funk, Dubby Disco & Soulful gems. A few of them will sound obvious but the mix also contains a handful of really rare & under the radar jamaican gem that I am happy to provide here.

Red Stripe Disco is a digging project conducted by DJ Waxist which focuses on exploring the Disco / Funky / Soulful side of Jamaica (or involving Jamaican people through its diaspora around the world, in the US, the UK or Canada). Red Stripe Disco takes you to a journey into some unexplored musical territories, going through genres for which Jamaica was not especially known for, such as Disco, Modern Soul, Boogie or Funk and even Disco Rap!

The music selected here is recorded from the actual original records & is the result of countless hours of research for some of the records played!

Here is a new episode of Red Stripe Disco selections. Once again, it does concentrate on obscure, under the radar yet qualitative records related to Jamaica and/or Reggae.

This episode contains a lot of different flavors - from US soul/funk covers, to Modern Soul, Disco & Soul cuts! Materials come from JA, UK, US & CAN and involve JA-Related people.
All records are selected under their OG format, most of them were never compiled or reissued.

I was very impatient to drop this new episode of selected groovy-reggae joints. So here is the 6th episode of Red Stripe Disco. 

As usual, you will here a fine selection of JA/Reggae related Disco, Modern Soul, Funk & Soul joints. Most of them are really under-rated & misknown or obscure. All of them are productions outta JA or involving JA people around the world (UK, US, CAN). No need to say none of them have been repressed or compiled - not that I know at least.

As usual, this selection features rare tracks out of JA or from JA Diaspora (UK, US, CAN) in the world & focus on Disco / Modern Soul / Funky styles in a reggae mood. All tracks are taken from vinyl only, all are from OG source as well - sometimes it's cracky but it's Jamaican hey ;)

Red Stripe Disco Vol. 7 - Selected & Mixed by Waxist

Finally here is the new episode of the Red Stripe Disco selections! As usual, the logic of it is to play & bring to light obscure or misknown records with a funky/disco/modern soul feeling which are related some way to JA island.
This is the case for the records selected here, either recorded on the island & issued on JA labels or featuring JA musicians.

For those who will recognize the track at ~ 30' - I decided to include it in the selection as it was issued on a reggae label. I have no precise info on the musicians etc so anyone who has some is welcome!

All records selected are from OG source & a few dubplates!
