Very nice song Wynn -- you always write such clever lyrics -- and all of the different instruments you use give it a lot of character -- nice harmonies too (sorry I didn't respond sooner -- I have the flu and doing even the simplest things is difficult, but hopefully it will be gone soon!

The story is definitely written my dear Wynn, too bad, I would have given this beautiful exiled princess a chance to bounce back. Superb song my friend. Thank you for this beautiful moment in your company..and in that of the princess. Have a serene time my good friend

Great concept, & lyrics to match.  Yes I guess we are in exile.  Love the comp btwn old music & Ireland.  And unique instrumentation....sound a bit like each band member is trying to follow the guy next to him.

This is Third in a series of Poems That Jo Richter has so Generously let me use. Anyone that has ever tried to write lyrics for a song, knows that good lyrics are hard to come by.  When i first read jo's poems, it was and is a cathartic experience. I hope i made a good song out of this GREAT Poem..

Met the girl that Dürer drew

I came of musical age during the Folk Revival of the early 60's. It was -- to say no more, because even this is in some respects already too much -- far from the worst time in which to be young. I'm not trying to bring back the dead: but this is a theme, and a treatment of it by an ensemble of unusual acoustic instruments (read their names in the additional tags) which would not have seemed out of place back then. But nor is it now.

She's a princess in exile, wants to bring me my joe,
I really can't see her as waitress, oh no,
There's a gleam in her eye and a tilt of her head,
Makes you know she was once rather different, instead.
Cause dreams don't die easy, and memories don't fade,
But all her princes have reasons they can't come to her aid,
And the minstrels are palsied, and the poets struck dumb.
There's no help for a princess in needs of a crumb.

She's a princess of music, and she can't find a fit
Between a soul that's too full, and a job that ain't shit.
And the arts, just like Ireland, have this renown
Of high praise from the children they've starved out of town
Where's the goal for her eye, where's the task for her hand?
But there's no help for princesses chased from the land
And no way to turn past triumphs to present gains,

This song represents a photosynthesizing phytoplankton which goes down a small river in mountains. The ship-shaped plankton starts at the headstream of the river, meets rapid streams and pools, and finally is seen to the way out of the mountain area by a salamander.
