The leaves are falling off the trees, its getting cold outside, the days are becoming shorter: Time to hit the clubs and start to feel comfortable in the comfy surroundings of wonderful house music. The newest release on Oliver Koletzkis Stil vor Talent imprint is the perfect match. One side is reserved for Berlin-based producer and DJ Niko Schwind, on the flip there are two tracks by Swiss up-and-coming house hero Kellerkind. Lets start with Hangover, a wonderful array of vocals, laughing, grooves and a super sweet piano hookline that reminds us all of the good times. Shivers! Next up is Phreak Out, a much more techy affair with a very catchy cowbell dominating the loop. When the vocal is dropped in though, this tune turns into a an oldskool minimal house affair that comes into full effect in mad breakdown, that will make everybody raise their hands, for sure. This clears the stage for Kellerkinds whips and lashes on the flip. Go is a deeply grooving sub monster that instantaneously beams the listener onto a barely lit dancefloor where music is everywhere around you, in you and between you. Perfect! Last up I Believe is a tripped out piece of housy techno. The grooves jumps up and down in this very druggy enterprise that is guaranteed to get everyone focussed on the most important thing in the club: the music.

&#8220;Sub Shaper&#8221; falls just right side of moody, with it&#8217;s brooding, dramatic tones and bombastic bass. With plenty of jack for your dance floor, it layers percussion in thick layers, driven by unrelenting male vocals and a trademark Ramon Tapia rhythm.

&#8220;Asteroid&#8221; is based on a driving bass line that glues the track together, the mysterious background mood is one of electric weirdness, with searching synths spiraling in the foreground and nagging effects disappearing off into space.

Even after more than 30 years of living the lifestyle of electronic dance music, Techno is still sometimes looking for a matching form and sound language to transfer the special thrill of a live event to a club night adequately. So, Sven Väth and his crew were even more excited about the live set of Eric Estornell aka Maetrik at Cocoon's Closing Party at Amnesia / Ibiza this year. For the final of a season that was once again exploring the limits of party culture, Maetrik celebrated an extraordinary energetic state of emergency for more than one hour. The resulting live CD is reflecting that matchless mixture of pumping Deep House, energetic Soul and adrenaline-enriched Noise that Maetrik presented already on such renowned labels from the likes of Treibstoff from Cologne, Dumb Unit and Steve Bug's Audiomatique platform, and which is, with timeless tracks like "Snorkel" and "Crush On Me", also an important part of Cocoon's current label portfolio.
The Texan that lives in Valencia in Spain is delivering a brilliant performance with ten tracks or remixes (among them Silicone Soul and Popof), including four unreleased tracks, which will be – for all vinyl junkies – also released on two maxis, of course. Estornell's distinctive style to stamp the night with his hallucinogenic vocals and deep hypnotic beats is illuminating the club with an energy that is literally everywhere. Thanks to the preacher vocals in "The Poem", a longing subsonic pulse in the Jazzersize remix of the Soul anthem "3am", the reduced pumping funk of "The Pressure" or the programmatic Maetrik-style definition "Particle House" with his breathless House mantra, the limits of time and space are overridden effectively, before the final "Crush on me" – one of the best club tracks in 2011 – provides the set with a conclusive climax. 
"Time unlimited, time undefined" is the matching motto that Maetrik gives at the beginning of his live set and, no doubt, after a good hour you need a short break before returning into your daily life time loop. Thank god there's a repeat button.

My Favorite Robot Records can do little wrong at the moment: whether it be their foray into album releases with Jori Hulkkonen (to be followed by Fairmont), their string of stellar singles this summer or their much hyped label showcase parties all eyes are certainly on this consistently excellent Canadian based label. Now the MFRR team look to join forces once again with Berlin based Puerto Rican producer Jonny Cruz, the man who provided the superb ‘Street Disco EP’ for the label last year.

Cruz has a history with My Favorite Robot Records that includes not only last year’s stunning EP but also a highly acclaimed collaborative release with Emerson Todd. He has also released music on labels such as Cocoon, Geno and Poker Flat records building an enviable reputation for quality electronic music.

The ‘Devil’s Hex EP’ kicks off with the original version of the title track, a deep and brooding slice of underground electronica with a dark tech edged house feel to it. Heavily effected vocal parts play up against menacing synth lines and haunting FX to create a supremely atmospheric record, quality stuff. The original is backed with a remix from Avatism & Jeremy P Caulfield who take time out from the Dumb Unit family stable to craft an ethereal and emotive remix of ‘Devil’s Hex’ that is a perfect accompaniment to the original.

The second of the original tracks see Cruz team up with Cali Lanuaze for a synth driven retro vocal workout that really hits the mark. Mid tempo bass and drum tracks provide the basis for intricately weaved dark melodies and vocals that have you locked in from the off. The original is followed with a superb remix from Crosstown Rebels artist Fur Coat who picks up the pace and moves things towards the dancefloor with a hypnotic mix with some intense top lines.

From student to teacher, from heart to soul. That is the summary of the path that Andre Salata, the DJ, producer and college lecturer from Sao Paulo, has been taking. Die-hard fan of techno and its origins, of its simple complexity in constant evolution, he entered the world of musical production through his own connection to the art’s style. He grew in the area and ended up becoming a lecturer of electronic music production in a respected College in São Paulo. In constant exchange with producers, enthusiasts and students, his influences are constantly renewed and materialized in his music.

Tocaia is the first track and it’s laced with funky bass-line, house leads, dry percussion and a smooth changing groove.

Vector Lovers returns after a well earned break with this brilliantly produced release. Vector Lovers AKA Martin Wheeler, well known for his futuristic innovation, is the subject of 2 excellent remixes and 2 remasters of some of his best electronic tracks. The high quality audio boundaries of Soma are pushed forward once again with the outstanding opening 2 tracks, complimented perfectly by an Andreas Henneberg remix of Genevieve, and a Marquez Ill remix of Melodies and Memory.  

Andreas Henneberg and Marquez Ill bring us back down to Earth by re-introducing us to the world of techno. Both remixes combine the ambient and dance aspects of Soma amazingly, keeping so many emotions flowing. The forward thinking sounds of Vector Lovers continue to astound and have been exploited in such an ultramodern way, keeping the release feeling fresh, whilst maintaining the labels ongoing originality and excellent quality.
