@hassan-abou-alam the electronic technician from Egypt's underground, has been riding a long and high wave of peak performances. Following exhilarating live shows and DJ sets including a barrage of hot releases, most notably 'Shalfata' on YUKU and 'Mesh Mafhoom' on Nerve Collect in 2024 and his impeccable sound design has wooed crowds of sweaty ravers on dance floors and off.

Punchy low-ends, broken sound texture, strings full of character whir around, blistering sharp, and strands of traditional Middle Eastern drum patterns reimagined by Abou Alam pierce through sound systems. Genres stripped and mutilated create a gritty, grimy, euphoric experience in borderless sound, leaving scope for sensational body movement in any given setting.

His passion for jazz catapulted him into the spotlight as one half of the iconic mixtape and DJ duo, Kon & Amir. With his own label, 180-Proof Records, founded in 2011, he further solidified his place in the music industry and continues to push the boundaries of adventurous music, uncovering forgotten artists and sounds ever since. He recently executive produced Strata Records – The Sound of Detroit, reimagined by Jazzanova, a project that highlights his expertise and dedication to preserving musical history and fostering education.
In this conversation, DJ Amir talks about his profound connection to Hip Hop and lets us in on his exciting upcoming projects and collaborations.

Wow – was für ein Fest!
Samstagnacht hat die Backstube geglüht: der Teig aus rollenden Bässen ging ordentlich auf, knackige Hihats knisterten wie frisch gebackene Kruste – und ihr habt mit vollem Herzblut mitgebacken. Ein Traum! Die zwei Stunden mit euch, hinein in den Morgen, waren pure Freude und Energie.
