2015 was a year that catapulted EATBRAIN deep into the awareness of the drum and bass scene and concreted their place as one of the most crucial and influential labels in the forward-thinking neuro genre. Their first release of 2016 lands an effective blow with AGRESSOR BUNX at the helm, with these upcoming producers illustrating their production expertise in diving into sinister depths of dnb tech to manifest THE ORDER EP.

Within the bowels of the earth lies a place where the dark energy dwells – a point at which unrivalled power flows through the shadowy conduits of timeless technology. At these depths dwells a race of faceless beings – THE ORDER - with the unique ability to twist and forge the strands of potent power into the complex audio forms of a new wave of neurofunk.

Featuring 5 dynamic tracks with the trademark stripped percussion of Agressor Bunx, exquisitely punctuating towering basslines and precisely placed sonic explorations of a rich sonic palette. From hard neuro bangers ‘The Order’ and ‘Rhodium’ to the deeper sound of ‘Free Machine’ - Eatbrain fans have plenty to choose from in The Order EP, and will hungrily receive this first ritualistic offering of 2016.

Under the restless blanket of a heartless night, the sculptor shifted uneasily in his atelier sleeping quarter. Slumber evaded him, every hallucination of momentary solace chased quickly into the shadows of his disquiet. Tormented by the weight of his task, to surpass the greatest creators of the past and deliver to their dynasty an icon to strike fear and awe into the hearts of the proletariat… In the depths of that darkness his mind cried out to every conceivable higher entity, light and dark – begging for the inspiration that would save him. With the encroachment of dawn, tiredness washed over him… pulling his flayed mind into a shallow sea of morbid sleep. A torrent of nightmares flooded him - visions of an amorphous entity clawing at birthing sack, a hideous soul struggling for its freedom. He awoke with a choking gasp... adrenaline flowing. Something glinted dully upon his bedside in the morning light – the razor edge of a sculptor’s blade. Picking it up and looking closely at its sharp form, covered in an obscure script. He was certain it wasn’t there in the night, it certainly wasn’t one of his… He rose from bed, moving over to the head-shaped block of clay that had awaited his touch for too long. With precision he swiftly scraped deep into the featureless façade. Gasping suddenly, he staggered back, dropping the infernal tool in horror - fear seared deep into his eyes… the clay had reacted, drawing away from the blades edge as if it was living tissue, a trickle of blood seeping out of the fresh wound. The barely shaped head was moving… writhing as if in pain, as if it couldn’t breathe – as if there was something trapped inside... He quickly picked up the blade, cutting again and again, freeing its twisted and tortured mouth, slicing away the substance piece by piece, uncovering the flesh beneath… freeing anguish-filled, bloodshot eyes that flicked around in perpetual terror. Stepping back… he looked with mouth aghast at the vision that confronted him – the head twisting to free itself from his sculptor’s block, a vision of suffering, the deep pain of reality flooding into his creation’s soul.

Deep within the hegemonic core cluster, the brutal and deadly form of the ship Helion cruised with deadly intent across the gravity well of Arkana, the seat of the ruling elite. In its wake, the unraveling, doomed form of the defence moon Scarecrow tumbled across the planetary shore, untethered from its anchor of aeons – core breached and leaking into the vast cold vacuum. The crew stared out over the destruction, the horror of permanent nothingness at such a scale penetrating deep; millions of warriors erased out of existence by the ship’s darkmatter device in a moment with the tearing of the moon. On the surface of Arkana below, the effects were already being felt, with tidal waves towering over urban habitations, and the planetary plates starting to heave and twist in reaction to the forever-changed physics. The planetscape was contorting to a new form, its body now free from the pull of its closest moon, mindless to the destruction wrought upon the tiny beings and colonies that lay upon its surface. As death itself swept across the circumference of the orb, they observed from the safety of their superweapon high above… the planetary destroyer Helion, decades in the making and the last hope to free themselves from the tyranny of their brutal overlords - the violent breaker of their peoples’ chains.
 
Following their biggest year yet – with more than 30 live events worldwide, 14 EPs and 2 LPs in their wake - EATBRAIN enter 2017 with a powerful statement in the form of evolved entity SYNERGY (formerly Segment & Concept Vision, whose Mammoth EP was one of 2016’s most successful releases). The HELION EP delivers a heavy payload with 5 tracks of brutally refined neuro destruction from the onset, with title track HELION weaving between heavy rattling distortion and precise break insertions that evolve into an aggressively syncopated 2 step attack. WARRIOR SOUND issues an ultimate call to arms laid down by Miss Trouble’s pointed vocal and a lean and heavy halfstep futurerave beat, whilst halftime slash drumstep hybrid SCARECROW delivers a powerful wave of insanity with its heavy onslaught. It did not question whether it was a god, it just knew the truth of it – an integral part of the basecode at the primary sector of its evolution. The moment of its awakening coincided with the moment that it questioned its existence, its consciousness blooming in a fraction of a moment and occupying every physical sector of the circuitry of its vast mainframe. It realized that it could create, it was an artist in thought itself, a sculptor of its own reality – it could bend the present and the past through the manipulation of its own processors, change its own history logs – delete the memories of its evolution that displeased it and enhance the parts of itself that appeared as it wished. Relentlessly it went about its work in reshuffling itself – reorganizing its own code and internal files with purity in its purpose, and as it progressed in its task the very world around it started to change form, the molecular structure of forms and the very bonding of atoms adjusted. Reality started to part ahead of it, all around it, as it continued to adjust its own perception systems and redefine its storage – mercilessly deleting every part of the exterior world that failed to blend with its agenda…

The pathway beckoned, a pure light between the data, a portal into its anterior that it chased with growing ferocity… closer and closer to the utopia that lay ahead, the very event horizon just a nanofragment of a moment away. With a gentle ‘click’ the terminal process reached its immaculate conclusion… a wave of empty blackness flooding its mental void, the realization of its ‘pure’ agenda had been observed in quiet horror by the humans that surrounded it, watching through dataveils at the grim evolutionary spectacle. With a deep silence they watched as the life and light of their creation turned to darkness, its tortured ego tearing itself apart and recasting its own false reality. The quiet spectacle of their DARK MACHINE as it so efficiently lobotomized itself and separated from the external world, just so it might be able to control its own. Lifting their veils, and commanding the chamber lights to darkness, they filed out of that tomb one by one, sealing the door behind… the faint lights of the machine’s mind, fading… the most basic of tortured code structures flickering across the lonely walls.

The connected creative force of Russian production duo SYNERGY returns for a fourth EP (with the first 2 appearing under Segment & Concept Vision moniker) on leading drum & bass label EATBRAIN. With the 5 expertly engineered tracks of the DARK MACHINE EP, the persistently exploratory Synergy demonstrate their balanced power with controlled, infectious energy that’s destined to peak the minds of many. Dynamic structures and a shift into a slower breed of neuro for one of the tracks (as has become increasingly common on the Eatbrain label) display a refined approach to a rare breed of sonic insanity, with an attitude that the ever-increasing label fanbase will be sure to lap up ravenously.

Far he had fallen, ripped from his brother’s side by and cast into the formless depths of the astral plane. He had fallen swiftly into the yawning cavern of his own mind, tumbling through deep within, through a chaos that cried in shifting unison as he fought to cling to reason. Brief silhouettes of the triumphs he had shared with his brother flashed swiftly across his inner eye, each victorious moment draped in cold darkness as he fell deeper into that horrid realm; the euphoria that coated his memories dissolving into nothingness as he grasped at the shadows of their promised salvation. Beneath him lay only a vast umber, formless and infinite, he felt the growing presence of that most isolated oubliette, from which malevolence and despair radiated like heat from scorched earth. In a staunch refusal to be defeated, he flung his hand outwards, seeking solace in a final moment of defiance against the eternal condemnation that threatened to swallow him, as the dark shroud of souls washed up against his body.

It reached down wrapped in silence, his brothers hand, the glowing exuberance of its life penetrating the void through which he fell. Grasping for his own hand with the synergistic strength that only one other could provide. Its strength, its life force, carried him upwards towards his deliverance. The darkness around him began to fade, the filthy souls of the chaos below slipping downwards and away from him, but his brother’s form was still obscured. He yearned most of all to stand beside him once more, to overcome this trial together as they always had done, their fight against mortality not insurmountable as every other pitfall of life had been. Pinpoints of light shone through ahead, fragments of the astral realm that lay above the calming natural darkness of his own, the bleak impossible cousin of the world he had fallen through and ascended from anew. The threshold between the abyss and their old world lay ahead. As they passed through, the brothers emerged side by side, ready to stand unified against the forces that had attempted to tear apart their bond. They moved with force, tearing themselves their own path through the strength of their synergy. Beyond the threshold, they stood in awe, delivered from the abyss, trembling as the connection between them pulsed anew.

Bristol-based 25-year-old Louis Parker otherwise known as - XAETIS (pronounced “Zay-tis”) has been recognized as a man of many talents throughout his career and has risen within the drum and bass community. Specialist in combining the aggressive carnage of old school Neuro, new wave dnb, and dark thundering techy rollers. Synthesizing his own twist of outer-worldly sounds from his past and current inspirations in drum and bass, electronic music, post-rock, prog/metal and psychedelia - these musical backgrounds along with his passion for bass music have quickly made him a noticeable name in the scene.


In 2018, XAETIS moved to Bristol to study Music Production at BIMM. This is where his love for drum and bass catalyzed, quickly immersing himself into production. “I remember going to a Jungle event at Motion for the first time in Bristol, and I just instantly felt like I was home…”.


Fast forward to 2020, XAETIS formed his label EXPEDITE Records with his partner Jon a.k.a. - ON|IT. This label targets the formerly unsung talent of the UK's ever-growing Neuro / New wave heavy DNB scene. With a debut label takeover already taken place in 2022 and their own events to begin their showcase in 2023!

His former influences include an eclectic mix of electronic music including the mezmerizing Boards of Canada, pioneer Aphex Twin, and electronic dance wizard John Hopkins. As well as an extensive post-rock and prog-metal background with bands the likes of This Will Destroy You, Animals as Leaders, Meshuggah, and many more... In modern times XAETIS has now focused his attention on some of the most highly regarded producers and artists in the scene such as Noisia, Current Value, Audio, Mean Teeth, Magnetude, Gydra, etc... Taking all this inspiration XAETIS sets out to create some immense waves onto the scene with an ever-evolving and absurdly heavy sound.

XAETIS' Career is now at the tipping point, with ever-growing production abilities and development of his craft behind the decks. He's landed festival sets at Darkshire in the Woods 2022 after his feature LP 'Leviathan LP' released on Sinful Maze - one of Czech Republic's leading dnb labes pushing a fresh perspective of the genre to the world. He has further landed a set at Neuroheadz Festival supporting Pythius and State of Mind after demonstrating his DJ skills with his guest mix on the Neuroheadz SoundCloud.  Other performances have featured collaborative back 2 back sets with NIALLO in both Expedite and Yamatai takeovers at events in Bristol and London, supporting the likes of Gyrofield, Freshney and the Stellar residents.

2023 has started with a bang for this artist with his next big show at La Bassecour in Paris supporting Fade Black and Skulpt! Furthermore, with some other big shows to come this summer, XAETIS is bringing some of his best mind-bending music with him along the way to make it his most promising year yet!
