So I just picked up a B.C Rich Outlaw 8 string guitar. 26.6" scale and DR 10-75 strings. It's suprisingly well built for it's price and the nicest/comfiest entry level/budget 8 string I've played so far. 

 Obviously the first thing I'm going to try is generic chugging haha.

It's got duncan designed actives which aren't that bad to work with. Will change them to a Pegasus/Sentient set eventually.

This obviously isn't anything amazing. Just some generic chug to fine tune a decent project template mix for future recordings.

So this was my first band about 13 years ago. We were a pop punk band called Rain At Night and the song is called Frozen Doll. 

We loved early AFI, obviously, haha. I played a squire Jazz bass and our claim to fame was opening for The Bleeders in the back room of Youthzone haha. 

I had a lot of fun with this band and I went on to do a hardcore band with the drummer called The Warpath. Good times, no shame. Well, maybe a tiny amount but hey, what did your first band sound like? haha.

Having a go on Positive Grid Bias Desktop Beta. It's a lot of fun! 

and EASY. This is two '5150' amps, a british bass amp (orange presumably) and EZ Drummer 2, plus EZ Mix for a 'metal' master. 

Really, really enjoying this. Dead easy to use and an insane amount of options.

Riff ideas

Finally got some studio monitors. Trying to nail a semi decent metalcore guitar tone with the HD500, and slowly learning how to make superior drummer sound better. Very slow process but getting there! Just some throwaway riffs against a simple beat, nothing too fancy.

Been listening to a lot of synthwave lately, so I thought I'd give it a crack myself. 

I don't know a single thing about syths, so I'm starting small and just sorting out a bass tone/sound I like first. 

It's been an interesting evening. Putting this up here for future reference and to come back to, it's my first crack as a synthwave bass sound/tone.

Bought back my B.C RIch Stealth 7 string. Spent the afternoon recycling some old riffs to see what they would sound like in A. Good times! I know these three riffs don't go together at all, it was purely to see what they sounded like in A. 

Need to get the guitar sounding a little clearer through this mix. Will keep on working at it. Want to try and write some actual songs in this tuning, I'm  having a lot of fun with it.
