Liking the originality of this, different and apocalyptic. Our artist Pok the Bard has a song called Silver Ships on the Sea on his Anthology album which sounds like a relative of this somehow. Very cool! :)

Alice Deeper Down

Couldn't fit in this experimental track with the current Alice Deeper repertoire so I bombarded this ADD profile to host a side project of the same name.
Although the track is a VST test mostly, hence I didn't take the time to craft a proper lead-in, and the ending is a bit sharp too.

Still, the subject is the apparent collapse of sanity and decency of the world's population, the institutions shaking on their foundations, a completely misguided revolt based on conspiracy nutballery fueled by social media algorithms that were designed simply to have more engagement with these media platforms, as that means more money - and if that means setting people up against one another, creating more and more division - whatever gets people talking, means people interacting with the social media, means more money. Good job. Civilization is on the verge of collapse as a result. Back to the time of Barbarian?

It started with a groove from Paul Claxton, then Roger Cloutier gave him a concept.
Lisa Saunders had the idea for the first verse from her real life touring experience; "the man in blue says I think you better move along"..
It's a harsh world out there but the Trisektorians believe you have to reach out and choose not to be lonely.

I've been thinking about little ones leaving the nest quite a lot recently. My kids are 10 and 7, so not imminent, but it still makes me feel a tiny bit sad (and a tiny bit relieved). I certainly know others with kids who are closer to that point, so this one's for them 🙂

When I'd finished my bits on the track, it felt like it was still missing a little something. So I sent it over to my man @nahlejmusic for some sweet percussive magic and, as always, he promptly delivered the goods. Thank you!

Street Dance

She dances hot black jazz funk,
the asphalt beneath her glittering,
gold and silver,
with the rain-refracted light of angelic street lamps.
She bops and sways,
multi-rhythmic,
a lithe and olive woman.

Pausing,
she begins a small-stepped peasant dance,
so that I,
following with a sullen-bodied shuffle,
may catch up.
Only my eyes dance,
they track shifting light and graceful dancer,
a giddy glimmering pointillistic film
cast against the black night,
the black streets.

The rain-cooled air tastes clean and electric.
The pale man is too proud to dance in the streets,
his body held tight against his proclaimed self-consciousness,
his mind held tight against rigid limbs of sense unreleased.
