You’ve been traveling all over the globe playing for many crowds. But most of the people don’t know that you have a background as drummer in heavy metal bands. Please tell us something about your “past” life as drummer?
Yes, before i got in touch with electronic music in general I was in a black metal band playing drums. My favorite bands and inspiration were Cradle of Filth, My Dying Bride, Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Amorphis, etc.
One of my favorite drummers was (and still is) Nikolas, from Cradle of Filth, he was definitely one of my main inspirations.
 
When did you start to see trance as the proper music platform for you to explore?
It was at Boom 98 when i first thought of making this kind of music. Then I went to live in London in 1999 then came back in early 2000 and started my trance project.
 
What have you been doing lately music wise?
Recently I’ve started a minimal techno project, it’s always good to explore new sonorities and different ways to produce. In trance music I’ve been doing some collaborations with Absolum, Cpu, Abomination, and at the moment I’m making a remix from the track “Basic Survival Instinct” (Menog vs Absolum) which was a world hit in the main dance floors.
 
This podcast was based on a live in Costa Rica. How and where was recorded and what else have you done onto the mix?
I’ve recorded the live act over there, but in the studio I’ve added some percussion loops and FX for this podcast.
 
Your new project is as teacher in a tech-school in Lisbon. Are you converting more people into trance or what? What are you doing in there?
Yes, it’s funny! I´m teaching the module “Live performance” in the Electronic Music Production Course at www.etic.pt, but it’s not only for people that listen to trance. I teach people that listen minimal, techno, drum&bass, trance. Electronic music heads basically!
 
Who have been your favorite producers to work with?
Absolum, Cpu, Space Tribe and Shift.
 
How is a regular day on Menog’s life?
Normally i only work on music during the day and weekly days. I wake up and have breakfast then I’m off to the studio to work.
Now with the classes, i have to prepare them every week as well, normally I do it in the end of the day after working in some music.
At nighttime i don’t work, only when I have some friend over and were working together.

This month's guest mix comes from Daniel Lesden, whose remix of Christopher Lawrence & Jonathan Allyn latest single The Human Element on Pharmacy Music spent several weeks in Beatport's Top 20 singles chart. 

Daniel Lesden has solidified his sound in recent years and is a name that is rapidly rising through the ranks and and is certainly definitely respected by his peers. His music can best be described as atmospheric and melodic, but at same time dancefloor orientated Progressive Psy Trance influenced by his love of the universe and journey of discovery. He has been meticulous in his preparations over the last year for his debut album ‘Chronicles Of The Universe’. With a remix of John 00 Fleming’s forthcoming single already in the pipeline, as well as three new EP’s all to be released on J00F Recording in 2014 the backing of such a powerful label proves Daniel has something special and what can only be described as an explosive journey ahead of him. Described as "A great up and coming psy producer!” by Simon Patterson, he began his professional career in the music scene in 2012 with his first release ‘Contact’ being snapped up by Ovnimoon Records and spent a number of weeks in the ‘Beatport PsyTrance Release 100’, finally holding firm at #7.  A remix of another of the heavyweights of the Psy Trance scene followed this with Ace Ventura’s monumental ‘Presence’, unleashing a moretechie sound on this remix that is certain to smash any dancefloor around the world.

Empirikal aka Nimrod Gorovich and Dekel Kamiosky, are one of the most promising duos that

Growing up together at a small village in the northern part of Israel, Nimrod and Dekel found their

authentic tribal beats, psychedelic experiences and nature into every melody and sound. Nimrod's

Tania Radillo a.k.a Pollyfonika started attending to major international psytrance festivals and parties in Mexico in 2004. She developed her taste for this music and after a few months, she started DJing on her own and at parties all around the country. Now, after 11 years of her debut in Mexico and at her young age, she has played in some of the best dancefloors in France, Switzerland, Germany, New Zealand, England, Lithuania, Spain, Denmark, Holland, Portugal, Canada, Argentina, Peru, USA, El Salvador and Guatemala, sharing stage with the biggest names of the trance scene in great festivals such as Voov Experience, Eclipse Festival, Ometeotl, Ritual Festival and many others. Producing wise, she has made some collaborations with Tron, Module Virus, Breathead, Aciduss and she is currently working on her solo psytrance project. Her own style can be recognized by the melodic touches she always add on her daytime tracks, very different from what she actually plays on her DJ sets. Pollyfonika, is one of the most known and recognized Mexican DJs in the global psytrance scene and the most popular psytrance DJ in México. Ingrained Instincts - Krater

Xipe totecs is the Psytrance project from Japan, who started in 2018.
They decided to keep exploring music from the"rave"scene, producing powerful sounds.
Their universe encompasses epic themes and colorful frenzied drums, to create trance music full of new sonorities.
They signed to Global label that French label "Transubtil records" in 2020.
