The new soft-spoken, hard-rocking group from Baltimore debuted their full length live show at the Wolf + Lamb Marcy Hotel this March. Following in the footsteps of greats like Nicolas Jaar and PillowTalk, they were the first invited guest in over 2 years to perform at the legendary Brooklyn proving grounds.

Life on Planets is a duo that met in the studio lofts of their east coast hometown, whereby a collaboration fusing indie artrock and electronic music began to take shape. It was a pairing of two dramatically different personas, merging as one for a serendipitous, romantic sound that's now been signed to the Double Standard label. Life on Planets has also released music through Better on Foot, where the debut single 'Apollo' made waves in early 2014. The touring act features live vocals and guitar, backed by a dj/producer, dawning a long-awaited return to authentic songwriting in dance music.

Emanative’s latest body of work comes in the form of this incredible collaborative piece of art all in the name of the charity, the Steve Reid Foundation. With features from Four Tet, Collocutor, The Pyramids, Earl Zinger, Jessica Lauren, Finn Peters, Rocketnumbernine, United Vibrations and Steve Reid collaborator Ahmed Abdullah! This will be a limited edition release of 500 2xLP on 180g-heavyweight vinyl.

This whole double album was conceived from the beginning as a way to raise both
money and awareness for Gilles Peterson's Steve Reid Foundation.
Orchestrated by Nick Woodmansey/Emanative, but not without the generosity, help and contribution of every musician and collaborator involved.
 
All of the effort and countless hours invested by all; from the musical, recording and mastering to the organisational and administrative; including the record's art and design, have been given with the sole intention of flowing towards this cause - in the knowledge that all proceeds are going to The Steve Reid Foundation.

Did you ever wondered how a Steve Reich minimalist kalimba composition could sound in combination with a heavy sub bass and a two step influenced rhythm? Well, Daniel Haaksman serves the answer: His new single "Rename The Streets" perfectly combines the best of classic minimalism with the bass love of today.

The great thing about it: You can dance to it, at the same time it raises political awareness. The music video to "Rename The Streets" is adressing the demand for street name changes in Berlin´s colonial quarter, the so called "Afrikanisches Viertel" ("African Quarter"). In the video, two pole-dancers transform street signs bearing the names of questionable colonial figures with their moves into streets bearing the names of Nelson Mandela, Miriam Makeba, or anti-German colonialism fighter Morenga. 

The single comes with a DJ friendly extended mix and two remixes. The first remix is by Lisbon´s Kuduro whizkid and Afro don of the hour Dotorado Pro, the second remix by South Africa´s DJ Spoko – the inventor of “Bacardi House”. The artwork is by German artists Tobias Rehberger.

“Rename The Streets” is the first single from the upcoming Daniel Haaksman “African Fabrics” album which is scheduled for a 26th of February 2016 release.
