There are performances from vocalists Sara Vanderwert -who Turbojazz met while she was busking in Puglia - and Arya, with both female vocals reaching up to the roof and touching the souls of listeners. Celebrating the sonics and genres that have shaped his sound, this album glides through house, nu-beat-jazz, hip house and soul. If there is one record you buy this month, make it this one.

Invisible City returns with the hotly anticipated reissue of Amajovi Jovi by Durban’s O.G. kwaito giant, Sandy B.  Originally self-released on cassette and a white label 12”, rumour has it Sandy had to remake the tracks from memory because even he couldn’t find a copy. 
 
In its original post-apartheid context, Amajovi Jovi was a sign of youthful subversiveness, rebellious creativity and a neck snapping rejection to the fascist groove of a silenced nation.  While the Pantsulla hustler nods to house legends like Jamie Principle and Pal Joey, its hip hop breaks and interludes show a clear affection for Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle.  At its slowed down tempo however, this low-fi kwaito masterpiece turns away from its American influence and looks towards Baldelli and his cosmos.  Best of all are Sandy’s vocals— deep, melodic Zulu rap, sung flippantly—the way that only a true gangster could.  It now stands as one of the finest glimpses of 90s party music to ever be blasted at the underground parties of the South African townships. 
 
A huge fave of Jamie Tiller, Tako, Young Marco, Optimo, Trevor Jackson and ICE, we are proud to present a limited vinyl and cassette reissue from one of the godfathers of kwaito. Remastered and restored from the original cassette tape.  Designed by Zeitype. Distributed by Rush Hour.

Upon popular request, Tokyo Dawn presents the instrumentals and re-edits of Tensei&#39;s
&#39;Constellate&#39; release, an uplifting collection of modern soul fusion.
Tensei (meaning &quot;Heaven Star&quot; in Japanese) is the Chicago based producer tandem of Midas
Wells and Chris Kramer. The music represents a soulful, electronic and hip hop infused
perspective to Chicago&#39;s growing spiritual jazz movement. Tensei’s instrumentals on
constellate all start out electronically composed tracks without samples by either Midas or
Kramer. The tandem then improvises and loops on top of the tracks. On Constellate, Tensei
additionally recorded improvisations by Makaya McCraven, Brandee Younger, Greg Spero,
Junius Paul, Khari Lemuel, Kevin Mitchell, &amp; Paul Curtis among others to incorporate into the
compositions.
The vocal versions of these songs are also available via Tokyo Dawn featuring Jimetta Rose,
Yaw, Sam Trump, Sulaiman, A. Billi Free, Kiara Lanier, ADaD and Liv Warfield from Prince&#39;s
New Power Generation among others.
