My Favorite Robot is proud to welcome the return of DJ and production duo Slow Porn with a stunning new compilation album. After releasing a critically acclaimed EP on the Canadian label back in December 2015, Slow Porn now come back with a fantastically curated 18 track compilation that proves the richness of their sound goes way beyond their studio and the dancefloor.

Made up of Meant Records label boss Remain, and fellow Frenchman and La dame Noir label head honcho, Phred Noir, the duo have shared many DJ booths over the years leading to this collaborative project. This new compilation, which also includes Slow Porn sounds, is an expert experiment that finds them delivering "a filthy groove and slow-paced mood music for confidential and undisclosed dancefloors."

Taking in a delicious and diverse selection of artists such as label regular Fairmont, via machine music maverick Richard Norris and numerous other luminaries such as Rodion, Rework and Vosper, this is a carefully constructed mix where a libidinous and spaced-out mood is king.

Things start exquisitely with the spacious and lush 'Lost In Love' by Amevicious before touching on broken disco with French spoken words, percolating kosmische, languorous and slow motion deep house and synth-tactic steppers that gently nudge up the BPM. Mixing beautiful drones with heavenly chords, leggy drums with pixelated pads, Slow Porn plot a journey through space that is wide open and inviting, laid back but vitally engaging.

Their own cut 'Silver and Lust' is rugged yet colourful, with aloof female whisperings and modulated synths really getting under your skin. From there trippy synths continue to squelch and fat bottomed drums hold a constant groove before things warp up perfectly on the malfunctioning disco sounds of Kieran Holden.

The aural pleasure seekers, that are Slow Porn, truly come correct with this wide ranging and absorbing selection.

CatCat - Poison

This month Carhartt WIP Radio brings you a show by French DJ, producer and label-owner Jennifer Cardini, consisting of moving material from her label Correspondant. Taking the name from her legendary residency at Paris' Rex Club, Correspondant has released music from artists like Man Power, Vox Low, Javi Redondo, Red Axes, Uriah Klapter and Borusiade. Stylistically the label delves into various electronic styles and tempos, such as techno, house, acid, disco, downbeat, electro, synth-pop, ambient and atmospheric new wave. Before Cardini established Correspondant in 2010, she had already enjoyed a longstanding career as a DJ, with residencies in Parisian clubs like Rex and Le Pulp, and regular guest performances in renowned nightspots like Fabric. As a producer, she has dropped deep, writhing tracks on labels such as Kill The DJ, Crosstown Rebels, and her own brainchild, Correspondant. Enjoy.

I Just wanted to Share this mix with the world as it seemed like a waste to have it sat on my Laptop for only me and my close friends. 

I recorded it when i first came up with the concept for my Roadshow of Wrong Mixtape Series, a mixtape designed to soothe the soul and cheer you up on a gloomy day.

To set the Scene i was Booked to play at a Private Holy Ship Community party called Camp Ship Fam at a summer camp in the proper middle america vibes of North Carolina.  I played my main set on the closing night of the 4 day weekend which was so much fun that i came back the next day to the camp to catch up with all the new friends i had made. Being the 5th day of this absolute bender of a weekend there were a lot of casualties, comedowns and people hugging toilets or in bed.

So i decided to rally the troops and wen around the rooms grabbing every inflatable, Matteress, Pillow and Duvet i could find and mad a giant cuddle puddle in the middle of the dancefloor. And then i played them some music to make us all feel better.

It was a lovely time and the hairs still stand up on the back of my next thinking about it so i wanted to share the live mix with the world.

It's Perfect for a lazy sunny afternoon, a busy day in the office or laying on the grass looking at the stars with the person you love when you come in late from a night out.

A nifty new release from a long-time AAA member of the Classic clan, James Curd (formally of Greenskeepers) joins forces with a slightly newer face, Shaun J Wright. You will remember Shaun from his first Classic release ‘Matters Of The Heart’ with frequent collaborator and Twirl head Alinka which made a splash in 2015 and was remixed by The Black Madonna. In ‘Now I Believe’ James moves out of his modern day disco sound into a fresh take on the Classic. Reminiscent of Derrick Carter and Chez Damier’s ‘Hope’, this bumps ever so slightly into the right side of tech, with Shaun’s vocal giving it some warmth and soul. Already being played to death by Honey Dijon and Luke Solomon, this is set to be another special moment for the harmonious Classic family.
