Following on from the rambunctious results of Bass Clef and Frak swapping tapes, the Schmorgasbord menu is being treated to another unlikely fusion of flavours from positively singular sonic chefs.  

Pev (formerly known as Hatfield Peverel Junglist Massive / Peverelist) has been peerless even since the emergence of the Bristolian dubstep scene. His Punch Drunk label stands as a testament to how they do things differently in the West, while the Livity Sound venture has defined a new language of utterly thrilling soundsystem culture. The zen-like balance of intensity and grace, ugliness and beauty, heaviness and soul makes Pev’s music some of the most essential out there. 

Steevio has a life in music that stretches back to founding the UK’s first electro funk club in Newcastle in the 80s, winding through psyched out acid rock before landing in the thrum of techno. His hands on approach has brought him to a point of full technical control, weaving organic flows of synthesised hits on a towering modular rig customised to funk and bump to the exacting beck and call of its master. As well as crafting a sizable identity around the Mindtours label, alongside his partner Suzybee he has crafted one of the single most important community gatherings for electronic music and human beings in the 21st century, Freerotation. 

As long time friends through the festival connection, Pev & Steevio agreed to embark on a release for Schmorgasbord that resulted in two staggering original tracks being reworked in wildly diverse ways. Pev took a classic remix approach and turned Steevio’s “Seren” into a tense and thrilling techno throwdown, while Steevio took the MIDI pattern information from Pev’s “Edges” and made it sing through his modular.
