Hoodboi is leading the pack of visionary young LA producers. His debut Fool’s Gold EP Palm Reader was an inspired, late-night take on international club sounds, bringing underground vibes to the masses while injecting his own unique brand of matrix-friendly dance appeal in the process. Now, the Athletixx producer gets taken for a spin himself on Palm Reader Remixes, featuring reworked EP tracks from his club-smashing peers. Vindata (Owsla) turn “By Ur Side” into a half-time masterclass in pitched vocals and triumphant laser riffs, while Alizzz (Mad Decent) drags “Shallow” into warehouse trap territory. It's been tipped as the breakthrough track of Dutch newcomer duo Cubicolor. 'Falling' will be released as a single from the upcoming debut album due on Anjunadeep. The single is supported with a hefty remix to up the buzz, by none other than KOMPAKT contributor Robag Wruhme. “Falling” also features London based Tim Digby-Bell, one of the founding members of the experimental-indie band Duologue.

Falling EP will be released on the 25th of January on Fayer.

A clash of titans then: two figures whose workloads are littered with gold-dust in ex-Kraftwerk, ‘second from the left’ fellow, Karl Bartos, and the inimitable Matthew Herbert.

It’s been 13 years since Karl’s debut solo album Communication saw the light of day. Remember those days of Windows XP and dial-up modem connections? “Communication is about the way images determine our view of the world and how electronic media is going to change the content of our society,” he’d said at the time. Now Bartos is pumping new life into the album complete with a pristine re­mastering, a first offering on .mp3 and including the previously left-out track “Camera Obscura”. The stuff that digital dreams are made of.

Matthew Herbert turns the screw on his makeover of “I’m The Message”. A kooky remodelling that’s as equally reminiscent of slow data transfers and Napster as it is firmly forward-facing and inventive.

To close out the month of February, we have Porque,.. a producer based artist established in Mannheim, Germany. Describing his sound would include a blend of minimalistic and fx driven, experimental grooves. When asked where gets his inspiration from, He states, “I don´t have to look, I get inspired from everything all day! My work, my City, my Feelings, my Emotions, my Girlfriend, Nature... I think life itself is the most inspiring thing!” Favorite artist of the moment is Rewach. “He´s an outstanding talent – Keep your eyes peeled!” says Porque. Some exciting things happening in 2016 include releasing some EPs in the first half of the year on Suspension of consciousness, 4Plae, Samani and Kanja. "This mix is linked to my inspiration from footwork music. It’s really romantic, but at the same time powerful and primitive images like hyper-ancient civilizations spring to mind whenever I listen to it. I also picked out a few of my all time, little-know favourite songs from my early age and added them at the end. Both simply express how I enjoy music and play with sounds.

Most of the tracks are mine: including ones featuring Taiwanese producer/singer Meuko Meuko and Taigen from Bo Ningen, which will be on my upcoming LP from Orange Milk. The last two tracks are my favourite Japanese bands Kuuki Kodan and Nina. The very last one is from my old playmate, singer songwriter Osaki Go.
