The only thing that keeps Detroit Swindle from actually being from Detroit is that they are born and raised in Amsterdam, a little over 6000 kilometers away. So even though they’ve got their 4 feet firmly positioned on Dutch soil, their heads and hearts are rooted deep into the soul of the motor city.
Detroit Swindle consist of Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets, 2 guys that, without actually growing up together, have had practically an identical musical
upbringing. A vibrant mix of Motown-soul, funk, hiphop and jazz inspired them from an early age on and after a varied exploration through techno and house, they met each other by mutual interest in Detroit inspired deephouse.

Detroit Swindle have a clear vision on the music they produce and play. If you can’t nod your head to it, it’s probably not theirs and they probably won’t like it. Their productions are best described as contemporary interpretations of classic soul tracks with melodical grooves, jazzy chords and bumpy bass-lines. So in short, if Marvin Gaye would have made house music, they would have been his biggest fans.

Leng Records is kicking off its 2019 release program by offering a debut to a previously unheralded producer from Russia’s fast growing nu-disco underground. Given the quality of the two original tracks on show on his first Leng outing, something tells us that we’re going to be hearing much more from Moscow-based Takovoi in the months and years ahead.

On the A-side you’ll find “5-2-9”, an effortlessly dreamy and Balearic affair that ebbs, flows and slowly unfurls over six spellbinding minutes. The track is built around a chunky, acid style bassline and loose, delay-laden drum machine beats. Yet it’s the drifting and dubbed-out musical elements that cluster around the groove – leisurely keys, yearning trumpet solos and kaleidoscopic, arpeggio style synthesizer melodies – that make “5-2-9” such a magical piece of music. Think of it as a statement of intent.

Takovoi’s love of TB-303 style acid lines and mind-altering electronics comes to the fore on “The Fox With The Dog” which sees the up-and-coming producer give his take on the timeless electro sound. It’s as spacey and atmospheric as you’d expect, with exotic electronic refrains and glacial synthesizer lines dancing across the sound-space. The groove – a combination of punchy drum machine hits, heavy acid-style sub-bass, occasional bursts of hand percussion and breakbeats – is pleasingly heavy, too, making this particular electro excursion a bona fide dancefloor delight.

Lüle aka Bojan Gajić aka Kompleks has been present on the club scene since 1999, as a DJ, producer, live act, one man show, duo, radio host ...
He is currently working under the name Kompleks, a project he did with  Nebojša Bogdanović (Schwabe). They are known for their characteristic edits as well as live performances.
A few years ago Schwabe "stepped out" of the project, so now Kompleks = Lüle.
So far, the Komplexks has released 9 vinyls, and ahuge number of digital releases (one of those was released here on 44,100Hz Towers few weeks ago).
Among the many ex-Yugoslavia music edits, releases for The Very Polish Cut-Outs and Good Plus, he is very proud of his collaboration with Theo Parrish, later published on Far Out Recordings as a limited edition "12" vinyl.

And today he and his friends LukadeLux & Dj Brka generously provided us this 5 hrs mix they did B2B2B from a celebration in honor of 20 years of Lule's presence in the electronic music scene at legendary Klub 20/44 Belgrade. It so happened that it coincided with the fifth birthday of 44,100Hz Social Club, and this is their gift to us. Hvala браћо!!
