For the latest instalment in the Mesh mix series we welcome Glittcherz, a London-based DJ duo known for fusing rave sensibilities with expansive soundscapes. Their immersive, forward-thinking style blends driving basslines, intricate rhythms and kaleidoscopic textures into something uniquely their own.

This mix presents a conceptual, spiritual odyssey, exploring how sound can mirror both the collapse & reconstruction of internal and external worlds.

Traversing glitch, ambient, electronica, techno, psychedelia, jungle & the darker shades of experimental bass music, the set unfolds across a landscape of disintegration and renewal, shifting from chaos into fragile moments of clarity.

Together, the pair channel their own mental states - the weight of chronic anxiety, emotional fragmentation, & a response to the relentless waves of distressing sociopolitical news - gradually guiding the mix towards resilience, grounding and a cautious sense of hope.

London-based producer Mattr joins the Mesh Mix series with a deep dive into lush leftfield sounds, laced with breaks and techno, and stitched together with his signature emotive touch

This mix is a sharp blend of driving rhythms and deep textures, showcasing Mattr’s boundary-pushing sound built for the dancefloor.

In Mattr's own words, 'I listen to a fairly broad palette of styles within the electronic music sphere so I've always tried to traverse genres in my mixes. This mix follows that same flow, starting warm, slowly ramping up through a couple of genres ending up a bit more peak time and then bringing it down to something more ambient.

It was really fun to put together, I love the challenge of finding ways of traversing styles whilst trying to keep a logical flow to the overall mix. It represents a lot of what I've been listening to over the last couple of years, some older and some newer artists I've discovered along the way."

Has the techno industry failed Palestine?

Sama', the world's most famous Palestinian DJ, talks about Israel’s genocide in Gaza and how the music industry—and some of her peers in techno—have failed Palestine.

The most deeply divisive topic of the year is undoubtedly Israel's genocide in Gaza. The issue has prompted some artists to step boldly into the political ring and others to shield their professional identities from scrutiny and public discourse, with each camp drawing fierce backlash.

After a brief summer hiatus, the RA Exchange returns with a new season, launching with Palestinian DJ Sama’ Abdulhadi, who addresses all this and more in a charged interview. The Ramallah-born artist has since gone on to tour non-stop internationally, regularly appearing alongside some of her idols growing up, such as Richie Hawtin and Nicole Moudaber. She's also no stranger to RA: in 2023, she graced the cover of this magazine and, just this summer, contributed to our drop of RA.1000 anniversary mixes.

This interview, though, is the most outspoken Abdulhadi has ever been. She shares her take on what's happened since October 7th, including her assessment of how and where the music industry, and her peers, have fallen short; the pressure she feels to be a global spokesperson for Palestine; why she feels that the revolutionary spirit has drained from a subculture built from resistance; and how, despite it all, she retains a sense of optimism and forward momentum. The KLF were a British acid house band of the late 1980s and early 1990s.  Eternity is a recurring theme in song titles ("3 a.m. Eternal", "Madrugada Eterna") hence the title of this mix. Following the February 1990 release of Chill Out, sheep had recurring roles in the duo's output until their 1992 retirement. Drummond has claimed that the use of sheep on the Chill Out cover was intended to evoke contemporary rural raves and the cover of the Pink Floyd album Atom Heart Mother. Drummond and Cauty's work often involved notions of ceremony and journey. Journeys are the subject of the KLF Communications recordings Chill Out, Space, "Last Train to Trancentral", and also Adventures beyond the Ultraworld. 

The Chill Out album depicts a journey across the U.S. Gulf Coast. I took that approach in making this tribute mix. Some British friends suggested I make this mix but in the beginning, I had no idea what to do, and more importantly how to do it. Most of what you’ll hear on the mix, is random and improvised. I only used one track from Chill out, most of the material is bootlegs, fan mixes, remix projects by fans and DJ's, samples used by KLF, remixes, moon landings, all accompanied by the movie The Rites Of Mu (Narrated By Martin Sheen). I hope it will be a rewarding voyage to you! At 3 a.m. eternal or eternal down (Madrugada eterna)… ? ? ? 

 "Madrugada Eterna" is Spanish for "Eternal Dawn".
