"This mix is intended to evoke the original spirit of the Artificial Intelligence series - electronic music intended for close listening, which can also cross over into a club music aesthetic. This is also my relationship with the AI compilations, I always saw them as a benchmark in electronic music which was "danceable" but also you could sit still and be immersed in it, listening loud on headphones. note from ryan: "there's so many places music can take you, in the world and in time, and i try to keep myself open to visit anywhere. but i think where songs like 'Wait?' take me is the best. in this instance it's that developmental shitty period of high school, where we're surrounded by sparks and magic, and uncertainty and endless worrying. it's scary and defining; the perfect time for a soundtrack. i probably would've had a lot of Mister Lies on my burnt CDs if i could've back then."

Shivers come when the temperature drops and you become more keenly aware of your surroundings. It enables you to hear the city itself, to truly belong to the streets. It is a supra-natural ability; old wrongs play out in present time, scenes across the city happen in front of you. But who is speaking to you?

At high levels, Shivers may make you seem mad to the outside world – as you listen to the city, you don’t listen to others. Your superiors may begin to worry. With a low Shivers, though you will seldom hear the city speaking to you – and if you cannot hear it, how can you ever save it? 

This is the first part of my tribute mix series about the game called Disco Elysium.
