Block rocking, pop locking Lonely C and Baby Prince are at it again with their latest "Fraiche EP" on Soul Clap Records. The troublemaking two-some take us back to 2011. It was a weekend in late August and New York City was practically under martial law. News tickers warned frightened citizens that a hurricane called Irene would strike at any minute, flooding most of Manhattan and Williamsburg where the boys sat gleefully snacking and talking shit inside the world famous Marcy Hotel. With all airplanes grounded and the trains halted it became clear that LC & BP were going nowhere. It began to rain, the wind picked up and as the skies darkened, NYC declared a state of emergency. Well…looks like it was time to hit the STUDIO!  

What followed could be considered a weekend of non stop music and delinquent antics. These two masters of hang out managed not to leave the house as they pumped out track after track anticipating the end of days. Only disaster never struck, IRENE WAS A HOAX! Was it another conspiracy? Who was pulling the strings? Who was John Frum? Is the Earth hollow? The mysteries remain… UNSOLVED.

Shout out to Greg Paulus for his superb trumpet contribution.

Mixpak Records and Man Recordings are two labels with a shared, global perspective. Brooklyn based Mixpak has established itself as a proponent of Caribbean music worldwide, while Berlin label Man Recordings specializes in regional electronic styles from the Southern hemisphere.

With both labels twisting styles & defying genre expectations, their strong natural connection has already led to artistic crossover, both having independently released tracks from Poirier, Douster, Schlachthofbronx, So Shifty & Wildlife. Following an ingenious & humorous idea spawned by Hat N Hoodie boss, Alex Wahl, an official collision of the two labels has resulted in "PAK MAN", a collaborative compilation EP that brings together like-minded producers from both sides.

To start, Murlo and Wildlife ride a heavy Dembow riddim through contemporary UK clubland on "Control," quoting Grime and Jacking House along the way. A diva screams, a square wave pulses, and the crowd goes crazy.

Poirier and Douster's effort explores ragga vibes, melding bits of Dancehall and Soca into one skipping whole, accented by a hyper sharp acid synth that takes the whole piece out of the beach and into outer space.

Mixpak and Man bosses, Dre Skull and Daniel Haaksman, combine for a frantic track called "Split Screen," a Power Soca track trapped in a Tron-style neon vortex, which barrels along at breakneck speed until the inevitable system crash and reboot disrupts the VR.

Munich and Miami team up for Jubilee and Schlachthofbronx's driving “Go Deh," which builds tension before unloading into a dancehall-quoting Miami Bass thunderstorm of alarms and lasers.

Milangeles and So Shifty's collaborative effort "Dembele" gets its name from the talented musician who lent his balaphone skills to the track. A spirited and melodic effort steeped in the traditions of both African and Caribbean music, "Dembele" has its feet firmly planted in the now.

"PAK MAN" is a smart connection between two labels with similar loves. There is nothing forced about the meta-eclecticism of "PAK MAN," but there is plenty of new and exciting music that points in many different directions while still staying respectful to its source material. This is global dance music for 2014 -- the product of unexpected collaboration and complete freedom.

"Escape From Groove Mountain" mix for Ad Hoc

ACCIDENTAL RE RELEASE WISHMOUNTAIN'S CLASSIC 'RADIO' ON LIMITED 12" - Monday 10th September

After such an overwhelming positive response to Matthew Herbert’s recent return with the Wishmountain project ‘Tesco’, Accidental records have decided to release this limited run 12” featuring some of the highlights of the original project., including the classic ‘Radio’. 

Radio was originally released on seminal 90's techno label Antiphon records and first championed by Djs such as Sven Vath and Westbam as well as being a club classic for legendary clubs like Fuse in Belgium. The track blasted its way in to nightclubs around the world despite being made only from 8 sounds of a beaten up plastic radio. In many ways it made Matthew's name, as someone ready to bring real and challenging sounds to the largely synthetic soundscape of club music while being unafraid to make people dance at the same time.

Herbert House music fans will not be disappointed by this clutch of rare tracks, available for a short time on vinyl.

01. Gosa: “This is a Japanese word that means an error or an (acceptable)
error range. When two men collaborate on something there must be an
error between them to some extent, but this error makes what comes
out of it interesting and different. Our collaboration is all about
this. We combined the expected and the unexpected coming out of each
of us and made a subtle balance in them. Then we got this album, which
I can describe as a real and creative techno album.”

Producers Airbird & Napolian return with single "J.Park" and details about their forthcoming debut album, Mr. Foolish - a body of work inspired by west coast dreams and east coast nightmares. On Mr. Foolish, worlds meld to create a deeply engaging blend of American House, Cosmic Funk and Hip Hop. The producers' disparate environments are uniquely present in the material: New York sensibilities cut through in Joel's melodic bass lines, astral vocals and idiosyncratic song construction, while Ian, born and bred in LA, delivers consistently cool and heavy beatscapes, surrounded by psychedelic ambience and hard focus.

Airbird & Napolian is comprised of producers Joel Ford and Ian Evans, each established artists in their own right, who have combined forces for a record on Cascine. The producers met while working on Napolian's Rejoice EP (Software) and an easy chemistry took shape. 2013 single "In The Zone" was the first official product of their collaboration, which launched to an intensely positive reception by listeners and journalists worldwide. From there, Cascine commissioned an album, and two years later Mr. Foolish was born.

I Will Follow You is inspired by an episode of the comedy serie Scrubs. My Last Words which is the 152nd episode in the final season of the serie. It's about a man who will die that night 'George' and how two doctors try to help him over his fear of dying. After George passes away they shoot a flare to symbolise his spirit moving on. Here's a bleepy remix commissioned by the Apollo label for their fine act Peluca. This one's a bit of a speaker rattler, with that growling, filtered bass and all, and the only secret I'll give up is that the programmed drum track was inspired by Babe Ruth's "The Mexican." Oops … I've said too much!
