Ancient Methods Boiler Room Berlin DJ Set

Setaoc Mass is better known for his vertiginous 4/4 Techno, but for this latest Zenaari Mix the Mancunian polymath explores his musical leanings in a totally different capacity. This one’s a love letter to one of the UK’s most compelling electronic exports: IDM. The 90s phenomenon is close at heart for many of today’s most prominent artists, having had a staggering influence across genres and continents and an outsized legacy given the relatively small niche from which it began. In a note on this mix, the DJ/Producer laments its relative inaccessibility in 2023, adding: ‘I would personally love to see more IDM nights in clubs’, with an extra credit: ‘shout outs to my brother Fluctuosa for pushing this genre forward and staying true to the roots.’ This one’s an in-depth study of the sound and its lesser known derivative Braindance, permeated by the urban wobbles of British Dubstep and delivered in hour-long format. Haunting sounds from the aether, a barrage of hallucinogenic breakbeats and glitchy neural musings, Zenaari Mix 004 is a full-brain workout from the widely acclaimed SK_eleven label head.

A post-industrial vortex pulled us in, where deep mechanical grooves met tight rhythmic control in a set that was both punishing and hypnotic. The pacing was expertly crafted, grinding tension, explosive peaks, and moments of eerie restraint, all delivered with a raw, analog-driven energy that kept the floor locked in.
