Greetings! We're excited to share one last Pacific Spirit session in 2022. This time around we're taking an uplifting cruise through foundational and under the radar deep house from the golden era stitched together by NYC's @arsenii aka Bliss Street Queens. Arsenii released an incredible record with us a few months back called the "Deep Hows EP" and this mix is evocative of the sound he explored on that essential 12". If you haven't secured a copy there's still a handful floating around at the finer record stores on the Planet E.

Pacific Spirit No. 83 | Bliss Street Queens

The 2022 Edition was a special one for me, full of mixed feelings and not really in my best mental state. As soon as I was up there and got in the groove I looked up and saw all the smiles and for a moment I forgot all the bad stuff and went for the ride.
So this is my little gift to you all.

Immense thanks for all your kind words received during the festival. Before and after my set. I live for moments like this and to celebrate music in such environments with the best crowds possible.
Small, simple, good music, good people. Thats all I need.

Also thanks for continually supporting Parallel Festival. I have big plans for the future which I hope to make possible.

It's always very touching to find musical testimonials. Over 20 years ago, my booking agency asked me to record this mix. In 2002, I was very inspired by the San Francisco scene. There were some great labels, DJs and artists there... What makes me happy is that I could still play 95% of those records. Time goes by too quickly, but I'm still as passionate and involved as ever. It was a great period, we played 100% vinyl, I scoured the record shops... This mix is an opportunity to look back on a past with tons of great memories. It's been a while since we posted a mix . we hope that you are all holding up good despite the difficult times we find ourselves in . in our quest to highlight djs we love outside of the  usual hyped up circles , we are pleased to share a mix by Cape town born and bred dj , Slow Motion City aka Phillip Blignaut whom we have had a pleasure of inviting to come and play @ Lakuti's & Tama Sumo's ' Your Love ' event in Cape Town this past  January . Slow Motion City's background in electronic music is much like his demeanour ... understated. He has experienced and learnt a unique sensibility and awareness of the dance-floor, a space for movement and human connection. 

As part of both hEAR and NTSC. Slow Motion City’s sound is undoubtedly broad and infectious. 

In 2019 he also contributed a track with Luis 93 to the newly launched local label City Bowl Wax Network Compilation 01 alongside Zanasi WiFi, Terrence Pearce and Tim Hastie. 

Slow Motion City aka Phillip Blignaut has built a reputation as a great and , versatile dj ,moving between intimate gatherings, club nights and festivals with appearances at Champagne, Private Life, Search 2017/18, Tama Sumo & Lakutis Your Love, Not Sorry Club, Killer Robot, Waxon, Atom, Future Frequency Festival, Wolfkop Weekender, Smalltown Beat and CTEMF 2018 ( Cape Town Electronic Music Festival )  and various other established Cape Town events.
