xly: music producer, composer, guitarist, bassist, recording/mixing/mastering engineer.

Based in London, joining ICMP in 2023 to study for a masters in creative music production.

The music I post on soundcloud falls into three categories: 1) my own music 2) mixes/masters 3) student work.

My music making began with teenage rock bands in the early 90s. After moving from Lancaster to Leeds in 1995, I played guitar for Homecut, a uk hip hop act with a live band fronted by Testament. We gigged until about 2003 and released a single with Corinne Bailey-Rae on vocals around that time before she went on to sell 10m records and win a Grammy. 

Much of what I post are mixes that I have done to hone my skills. On my mixing and mastering playlist you can find a range of styles including jazz, bluegrass, rock, country, techno, drum and bass, rap, electronic and more besides. 

As a teacher I have worked with lots of amazing music students. Occasionally, I post their gigs, cover versions or original compositions. Sometimes I have mixed/mastered, sometimes played instruments or just post what they have done.
