Jinku, the space monkey, made planet earth his second home. Otherwise known as one fifth of the East African Wave collective of young DJ Producers who are revolutionizing the East African arts scene. As a self-proclaimed 'sponge' of different influences, Jinku fuses trap 808s, afro-house and downtempo beats with African percussion and almost anything else he can find, creating unique musical hybrids. 
His first EP ‘AMADEYO’, has received international distribution via Sofa Lounge Records and was debuted via FADER Magazine. He has also been named as one of the top 25 Global acts to watch out for by FADER Magazine.

With a propulsive but understated bass and percussion groove underneath her, vocalist and trombonist Siya Makuzeni whips out her FX pedal, transmuting a mystical lyric about finding self, a higher force or perhaps a loved one into a textured, magical seance.

About SPAZA:
Conceived in the Mushroom Hour lab, SPAZA is a band with no permanent personnel, with each line-up assembled for the express purpose of recording completely improvised or workshopped material. For this, the initial salvo, SPAZA was put together from a group of musicians with individual and collective links to Johannesburg’s jazz, afro funk and experimental electro scenes, namely Siya Makuzeni (vocals, trombone & FX), Nosisi Nokukhanya Ngakane (vocals & FX), Waldo Luc Alexander (electric violin & FX pedals), Gontse Jnsq Makhene (percussion & vocals), Ariel Zamonsky (upright bass) and João Renato Orecchia Zúñiga (synthesizers & electronics).

East African musicianship is vast as it is diverse. However, due to a lack of proper funding and infrastructure for the arts, the true breadth of the region’s talents tends to be underrepresented. Furthermore, when conversations are had and opportunities are doled out regarding the emergence of African music globally, too often East African voices are left out.

The Full Full Condition series is an attempt to bring us further out of the shade. It is a series of compilation albums featuring several up-and-coming artists from across East Africa and the diaspora. Tangaza Magazine will be releasing and publicizing an album on an annual basis alongside our yearly print issue. The first volume, featuring acts like EA Wave, Naomisia, Mwami, and mau, is set for release in August 2020 on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, Audiomack, and TIDAL etc.)

“Full Full Condition'' is a term born from a 2011 Ugandan viral video of the same name and now lives in East African colloquialism and meme culture to express the greatest extent of any given situation. One might say “every song on this compilation album is a jam. It’s a full full condition!”
