 I Drammi Della Schiavitù by Natura Morta


Natura Morta is the musical projection of Colombia musician, performer and Illustrator Maria Mallol Moya (LAME, Gianni Giublena Rosacroce, Space Aliens from Outer space, Rhabdomatic Orchestra, Talky Nerds, Marta Rivera). Sonic immigrant since 2006 and collector of stories, Natura morta is a world of a very intimate and oneiric landscape of sound; infinite reverbs, gloomy voices that overlap in a phantomy harmony, flamenco like organs and acoustic guitars, Amazonas forest field recordings collected on her several trips into the vast greens of Colombia, influences that go from groups such as Księżyc and Coctou Twins, never forgetting the roots of flamenco and most important Colombian folklore  it all combines in the speech of this artist articulated with the fierce flag of voice as the most magical instrument of human evolution.

In this occasion Natura Morta serves a selection of songs that describe the drama of slavery, as seen throught the ears of the only history she can testify; the history of the everlasting war and slavery of the Colombian people and  the story of the everlasting drama and slavery of all the humans that recognise them selfs as a woman. For an hour Natura Morta is going to take us on various trips and chapters of the story of colonisation, the devastating sadness sang with joy of  Colombia’s long drama of injustice, inequality and war as narrated by yesterdays and todays musicians. Inevitably, this narration many times is suffered in a double axe of pain by many women in history; the abuse, both physical and mental, the colonisation of our bodies and life’s through time and nations, the vulnerability and violence that is weighted on many indigenous, AfroColombian and in general all women is one of the main characters narrated constantly through the sonic passages of Colombias folklore. This chapter starts in Cartagena de Indias on the XVI Century, as this port was the main point of slavery during the devastating process of colonisation of South America, and sees its highest point around 1693 when a movement against slavery is born between slaves and cimarrones, this movement was called LA REBELIÓN! A turning point in history that’s lead not only to the liberation of slavery but left and infinite amount of anthems and songs of protest against the drama of slavery, songs that combine with some more actual ones, passing frontiers in the search of a common field, the resistance and hope of people In the eternal fight against the white, male, supremacist machine.

Malka Tuti are releasing Khidja Si Balabas, a mega four-tracker by Khidja, in collaboration with their old time friend from back home Mihai Balabas and featuring their new friend Rob Szeliga on Bass Clarinette. The four different tracks were written over the past few years, slowly plotted produced and perfected, each in its own twisted direction. There are no dancefloor killers here, but instead four very unique voyages, experimental sonic excursions in time and space. It was the track "Chloe" that caught the attention, back in 2015. It's not a typical Khidja track, but the musicality and the composition in it reminded us of lost Balearic moments. It made for reminiscing on summery Sunday mornings back when life was still a bit more innocent, and naive. Out of that infatuation came the idea of "sitting on it" until the right tracks will be ready, and here they are, more than three years later.

Fool fall from the dream Tale by @ventralisgolden

Nobody saw him disembark the Yāna as it descended to earth and sank slowly into the sacred mud. 

As the riverbanks absorbed him, the Fool, disoriented at first, emerged from the algorithmic sleep of a thousand spores containing old worlds. Adjusting to the new environment, his sense of origin dwindled in the twilight of the processors. Long drones of mechanical ohms stretched along the air waves from the same forgotten distance from which he came. His mind knew the drone only as an synthetic mechanism now. It’s vaguity echoing faintly through the fine particles in the vertiginous air, eventually coming to rest upon his lips like a vast hall of molecular libraries. He spoke its name to define the edges of the sound. ’Or’ breathed the Fool. “Or” he breathed again.

His voice moved like a string of vibrating pearls through the imperceptible atmospheric tones surrounding him, producing an agitated thought-form of momentary clarity.
“Or” he said. “Or” he repeated. The pattern emerged once more. He recognised it’s form as Le Charlatan, the old Sorcerer of the Grasslands.
The textural pitch of the mechanical drone increased across the horizon as the image became imbued with clarity. 
The processors heated and the thought-form expanded, bursting into crystal droplets that fell like marbles onto the sparse, trembling leaves of the surrounding vegetation. 
The Fool reached down to examine their spherical nature as they smouldered in the mud. 
He meditated on how he could have possibly arrived in such a world. 

The old knowledge recorded in the one hundred halls of the molecular library were once thought to permit us to glimpse into the heart of strange matters, but now were a useless mental catalogue of all the images of his memory. 
Realising that he no longer knew his name, nor the world in which he grew up to survive in, he recalled the forms of an even earlier age than his own. An age where every bird, branch, leaf and stone spoke their own name. 
He gave himself the sound of ‘Chevolek’, for knowing it’s nature was of the old grasslands, the sound would contain the memory of the subtle streams around which those one hundred scared halls wound.

Although his motivation seemed supernatural at first, it wasn’t impossible. Chevolek gathered the one hundred droplets, each representing one year of his previous dream, and placed them into the sacred mud in spiral formation. 
He knew this pattern contained within it the emergent structure of the Magus, Le Charlatan, the Pan-incarnate panacea of the mechanical mind that now hummed so deeply through his molecules that he could almost taste the nature of the next realm.

As the glassy droplets softened and submerged, new visions of Or sprouted through the mud. There Chevolek stood as Le Charlatan and faced himself. As the humming in the distance equalised, the heat of the processors transferred their source and cooled within his body. 

The spores of previous worlds redeemed the fall of the Fool from his dream.
