Holding On

Eleven

XO is twin brothers Jeff Turner (vocals/guitar) and Jake Turner (bass/vocals).

Inspired by hardcore/emo and pop punk, the band was formed in 2004 when Jeff recorded his demos with Jake engineering/producing. The twins joined the band Say Anything as guitar/vocalists in 2005.

The Some Day EP (2008), released by Animal Manufacturing Co., was recorded with Matt Malpass in Atlanta, Georgia during breaks in touring. XO performed often in the Atlanta area.

Demoing for XO’s first album, Heart, started in 2011. The band relocated to Long Beach California in 2012. Equal Vision Records signed XO. The debut album was recorded at Hurley Recordings studio in Costa Mesa. Parker Case (Say Anything) co-produced the debut. The sound incorporated stacked vocals, lush guitars, doubled drums and reverbs that aimed at creating a Phil Spector worthy wall of sound.

Equal Vision Records released the 7″ single “Fault/No Feeling” on red/white swirl vinyl in 2013. XO’s debut album, Heart, was pressed by EVR on 500 black vinyl in 2014. Los Angeles based label Touch Tapes pressed a limited edition cassette of 100 clear shells in 2015.

XO has performed extensively in Southern California since 2012 with artists such as The Appleseed Cast, Froth, Teenage Wrist, Finch, Topographies, The Belinda Butchers, Tennis System, and Panda Riot. 

In May 2016, XO entered the Hurley Recordings studio to begin work on their follow up album with engineer Jon Berry (Rufio). The trio tracked live to capture the essence of their performances and overdubbed percussion, vocals, guitars, keyboards and grand piano. The twins mixed the new album and released it April 19th 2019.
