After a long night of speedy and hard music indoors, I took the opportunity to close the event on the outdoor stage with music for the sunrise. Faster than usual - but still psychedelic and emotional.

On the ruins of the recent past, together we build the outline of the days to come. Undiscovered scenery will reveal a space for those who are fearless to enter the void and set new paths in the light and dust. On Friday, August 13th an industrial area of a former factory outside Prague will host a long night with international and local live acts and DJs to tear down this veil of emptiness. The location represents the fragility of our times - the future of the area is as uncertain as ours. Let's dance TILL THE LAST.

MINI-INTERVIEW

What is the intention behind your set?
"This is my “I’m-done-with-Winter-and-all-I want-to-do-is-Rave-into-outer-space” Mix. I’d like everyone who listens to imagine us raving in a dark, smoky club, eyes closed, phone off, going wild. I’ve also recently really gotten into Juke by exploring the releases coming from the St. Petersburg based label ‘урбан’ and threw in a little Juke Chapter at the end of set."

How did you start DJing?
"Through the well-worn path of hanging around parties, meeting people who throw parties, seeing how much fun it is and wanting to help out and be a part of it. My first couple years in Berlin were a crash course in the party scene and it wasn't long until I wanted to bring my energy and attitude to the booth and see if it would connect with people. It’s been a wonderful, weird, crazy adventure since Day 1."

What can we expect from you in the near future?
"I’m very excited to be organizing a Techno Truck(s) for the International Women’s Day Demonstration in March 2022."

After meeting at @schabernackmuc's Festival, I invited her on the show for her keen ear for 90s trance classic and recently produced heaters. Gigi Basso is a DJ and Event Organizer based in Berlin, Germany. She helped form the FLINTA* Collective ‘SubAllies’ in late 2021 to highlight the importance of FLINTA* technicians, organizers, DJs, performers and ravers, whose support keeps the subcultural Berlin rave scene evolving and alive. SubAllies celebrated their inaugural event this year on International Women’s Day by hosting a demonstration and raving through the streets of Berlin. 

As a DJ, Gigi Basso reps the Diva Techno genre which features hard, forward pushing bass lines while intertwining with a sexy, bouncy and soulful attitude.

"I first encountered rave culture after moving from New York to Berlin 6 years ago and with this mix I wanted to create a cultural care package highlighting some of the Northern European sounds which have defined my raving experience over the last years. Included are tracks from producers based in Copenhagen (Schacke), London (Céilí), Paris (Maxime Iso), Berlin (Alien Rain, Asquith), Stockholm (Billie Jo), Glasgow (AISHA & Franck) and Amsterdam (Lilly Palmer). Together this created a hard techno and trance inspired mix with dark, atmospheric ornamentations plus a hip-hop surprise."

@gigi_basso is a Pennsylvania born, Berlin based DJ and nightlife activist. She began DJing classic hip-hop as a member of the Kopf Über collective in 2018 under the moniker ‘Hairy Diva’. 

Her style has shape shifted over the years to include a foundation of hard, pulsating techno basslines intertwined with a sexy, confident, hip-hop attitude; or in other words ‘Diva Techno’.

Basso sees the techno world as a vessel which contains her creative ambitions, activist beliefs and her need to absolutely lose it on the dance floor.
