A Field of Blades started in 2023 during one of the most difficult periods of my life. I was struggling with paranoid delusions and had become paralyzed by the fear of being followed, observed, and hunted by irrational forces. These feelings ate at me as my life began to erode away from them. I went to great lengths to validate these thoughts, and eventually I was living my life as if someone or something was watching me, tracking my actions, and reading my thoughts, feeding off my fear and taking pleasure in it.

The title encapsulates what I was experiencing during this time. Feeling trapped and in constant danger, where a move in any direction would result in violent injury. The feeling of paralysis was comparable to standing in the center of a field of blades, seeing the maze of slim pathways to attempt to navigate outwards but feeling incapable of taking the first step in a destructive cycle of inaction cloaked as self-preservation.

The process of making the project was just as difficult as navigating the experience. It went through three computers, and I lost the project files and a large portion of the work multiple times. What I could salvage is unmixed, incomplete, and far from what I had envisioned for the pieces. But they persisted, as did I. And the grit, imperfections, and soul these 5 tracks possess tell more about the experience than any level of polish or craftsmanship ever could. These 5 tracks are my thoughts, fears, and daily anguish condensed into a sonic landscape of disorienting structure. Following a path towards emergence from the living nightmare created by my own mind.
