This sound whether described as the ‘purple wow’, ‘the purple wave’, ‘purple dubstep’, or simply ‘purple’,  is a bombastic, melodic and funk-laden sub-genre that developed out of two of the UK’s youngest and most exciting scenes – grime and dubstep.  Known primarily for its off-kilter or “unstable” beats, as well as its eclectic blend of genres including hip hop, electro-funk, chiptune, jazz fusion, glitch, and crunk.
