The concept was simple: a split 12” from two artists who are divided by the Atlantic Ocean but unified by a love of classic New Beat sounds. Andi, boss of the New York City-based SYNTHICIDE record label/club night and Aufnahme + Wiedergabe recording artist, combined forces with Sheffield’s Industrialist and lover of underground Body Music, Randolph & Mortimer, to present their own interpretation to the unmistakable Belgian genre on Mecanica Records.

Thus, the Torque Force EP was forged. A landscape where seedy neon-soaked city streets merge with the clang of hammers and of industry: Gotham versus The Steel City. Andi brings pure style to Side A with driving beats and rolling, lo-fi percussion overlaid by seriously funky basslines and ominous samples. Side B is jammed with the unmistakable dancibility found in Randolph & Mortimer’s oeuvre that forces the body to move —with intense, in-your-face synth lines and precise beats, there is no choice but to dance. 

The four tracks on Torque Force are not just uber cool dancefloor killers, but could easily soundtrack a slew of 1980s dystopian cyber-sleaze movies. She must have violated the program.

Glasgow based Kenny Campbell has gained a reputation for delivering hard hittingsets whether they are techno, industrial, EBM or old skool hardcore. He’s as comfortable playing at 100 bpm as he is 300 bpm. In recent years he’s been a regular at Drøne in Manchester as well as playing all over the UK, Europe and as far aIield as Sri Lanka, with frequent appearances in Germany, France and Netherlands. In his travels he’s played alongside such diverse names as Nitzer Ebb, KRTM, Laurent Ho, Philipp Strobel, Black Kolor, Crystal Geometry, The Horrorist, Easygroove, Autumns, D.Carbone, The Mover and many more.Running the label Pitch Dark Records, initially with Alex Mullen and now on his own, has seen the label go from strength to strength, with releases being supported by many A list names. As a producer he achieved his life long dream of releasing on Industrial Strength Records. With other notable releases and remixes on Drøne, Eradys, RIOT Radio Records, SHISHI, Revok, OSM Tapes, Nu Body and Tjalk records. His long term collaboration with Huck Farper as Bone Skippers has featured on Monolith Records, Green Fetish Records and Wunderblock with his now proliIic collaboration with Duellist has seen releases on Scuderia, Black Verb, Dissonanze, Clan Destine Records and Instruments of Discipline.His love of 90s hardcore has been a focus and along with Technotrance they have relaunched Judgement Day Records and collaborated on Malevolent Forces, with theaim of bringing the sound of 90s hardcore to a new generation of ravers and oldheads alike.
