I Will Let It (Go) is the fifth release of 2023 from singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Chords Of Indigo. Streaming everywhere from the 3rd November.

An indie-pop confessional about late-night / early-morning missteps, and the emotional whiplash that follows.

Built around an ever-present bright and folksy acoustic guitar, the song builds into an ethereal, funky crescendo of bass, bubbling synth-work and layered vocal harmonies that takes cues from The Smiths, The 1975 and even alt-pop-rockers Coheed and Cambria.

Written, recorded and produced entirely independently in his South Manchester studio/spare bedroom, I Will Let It (Go) adds yet another unique flavour to Chords Of Indigo’s output.

Used to sit on the grass writing songs just for fun
I was always sidelined 'cos I just couldn't run
While the bigger boys smashed the ball into the net
I would dream of success, writing hit after hit
But the style that was in was aggressive and mean
With their hair like Mohicans and their language obscene
I was not in the moment, playing acoustic guitar
They said, "Get outta here, we'll never make you a star"

I was now in my twenties, and I'd learned how to play
I was in a good job, and I'd found I was gay
So I tried to write songs to put over my case
But the Pride guys threw them back in my face
They said, "We're gonna tell you how you should've been
Gotta act like an show-off and pose like a queen
It's all about clubbing and hookups and booze
But your old rock 'n' roll is just yesterday's news"

Now I'm coming up sixty and I've found the right guy
All my dreams of rock stardom have long passed me by
Still I wish I could get a song into the chart

You belong in the past, you're just a name on a wall 
So get outta here, you'll never make it at all"
