Three Butcher Birds throw melodies back and forth on a windy morning between storms. An Eastern Koel joins in midway along with the rest of the dawn chorus and frogs can be heard in the waterway nearby.

At the beginning we could hear the loud noise made by a passing cargo boat. During recording there were wild ducks situated about 40-50 meters of the hydrophone.

River Listening is a research collaboration between Leah Barclay and the Australian Rivers Institute to explore new methods for acoustically monitoring four Queensland river systems: the Brisbane River, the Mary River, the Noosa River and the Logan River. 

This short sound sample is from a demo at the 2014 Mary River Festival for a new River Listening sound installation that uses transducers and bone conduction to give the impression of listening underwater.

each piece is built from recordings of architectural spaces resonating, being sounded by orchestras and ensembles playing re-scored sections of adagios - a few seconds re-scored as durational performances 

recorded using JrF c-series contact microphones and adapted geophones 
on and around each location 

this technique of using buildings as filters for sound performances, and in and of themselves, is one that I have developed over the past decade or so and stems from my interest in sounds not normally audible to us, and on how structures affect our sonic experience.

1) an extract from a 24 minute recording - the location is unknown. This is the earliest hydrophone recording I have on minidisc & whilst the exact date isn't recorded it is a disc dated 1998.
2) from a short recording at Paull ponds, East Yorkshire from a disc dated 2002
