Yakawrath, also known as Fira, is a talented experimental psytrance artist hailing from the tropical paradise of the Maldives. Born as Mohamed Firash, he discovered his passion for music at a young age and began his journey as a rock and roller in 2008. He co-founded the band Wagon Park in Sri Lanka and became a prominent figure in the local music scene.

In 2017, Fira attended the Atman festival in Sri Lanka and was introduced to the world of faster-paced electronic music, particularly darkpsy. This experience changed his life and set him on a new path as an experimental psytrance artist.

Since then, Fira has an arsenal of music and releases, signing up with prestigious record labels such as Voodoo Hoodoo Records, Lucy Forest Records, and Nightmare 420 Crew. His music is known for its unique blend of psychedelic soundscapes and driving beats, taking listeners on a journey through the depths of their consciousness.

In addition to his successful career as a musician, Fira is also the founder of Maldivian record label Valu Records, which showcases some of the best underground electronic music from the Maldives and beyond. With his dedication to pushing the boundaries of electronic music and his passion for spreading positive vibes,

Being captivated through the music ranging from audioslave, megadeth to metallica. I had an urge to stick around and experience the magic behind audio and music. In 2004 i started hanging out with my best friend dhaai and a couple of friends in a beat up old studio where we used to walk everyday after school. Sitting on an amplifier and just listening to the music bashed out of some old set of PA’s. Turning knobs and faders in the studio experiencing the different frequencies that made music sound good. I took it upon my self as a prefect in school to be a sound technician doing small stuff like playbacks of the school anthem and mixing the microphones for the school assembly. After i graduated from school in 2006 i hung around the ever evolving music scene here in the Maldives and met some interesting and inspiring legends and musicians. A little way down the road i was introduced to Mr. Fayid who in turn became my mentor. Taught me about mixing, mastering and recording in both the live and studio environments. Following in his footsteps i was introduced to Hambe later that year who offered me a position at Island Acoustics. Through the year i got to experience some really cool events, from Mezzo’s “Listen” album launch, VTV inauguration and Music Yard. I left my job at Island Acoustics in 2007 and started doing work as a freelancer for other companies here in the Maldives. A show that would bring a fond memory of that time would be my involvement and help organizing all of the Rockstorm shows that year which was held by CQ Magazine. I got the chance to work as the FOH Sound engineer at “ Fasylive Experience” in 2008. In 2009 i linked up with the HUB crew where i spent my time till 2012. Experiencing events which included work from the government to private company events and new years eve celebrations at Conrad Maldives.in 2012 i joined Popjoy where i spent my time up until 2017. I had the opportunity to engineer the first ever music concert in the maldives using JBL Vertec Line array system, Mixed using a digital Souncraft mixing console, becoming the first Maldivian Engineer to mix using a Digital console in the maldives. In 2017 after parting ways with popjoy i started a new chapter in my life with Official events. Coming on board as the head of department of Sound. A new challenge with a new team did throw its own array of hurdles but down the line and many events later we worked as a team to bring this company to the next level. I got the opportunity to teach and experience what i love and do as well. 3 years and hundreds of events later in proud to say that im still a part of the official events family. I had the opportunity to work with D&b Audiotechnik and became among the 4 people in the maldives to have recieved the training from D&b Audiotechnik. New years at W maldives for 3 consecutive years and overseeing sound for the festive at 3 different islands would be a highlight here at official events as well. I mixed the 2019 Independence day festivities at the national stadium with 360 degree pa systems. Countless corporate events ranging from the biggest conventions, business functions, corporate events and government festivities and events include among the work i have been able to do here at official events.

A Maldivian guitarist that displays a strong affection for loud, heavy, violent, evil-sounding, vaguely otherworldly music. And ofcourse occasionally some soft music too :)
