Dub wisdom and global fusion that hits like a brick landing on a featherbed; LIONS GATE “PORTAL” is a musical movement and a spiritual evolution. The group consists of 3 NYC based veteran multi-instrumentalist artists that answered a Universal call to create this powerful project during the opening of The Lions Gate Portal in 2021 at Highest Frequency Studio. 

Patrick Dougher, Yako 440 and Erik Rabasca applied the full force of their combined talents, taking us on a trip from London to Lagos and from Kingston to Motown. 11 tracks that drop heavy reggae, moody trip-hop, lava hot hi-life / afrobeat, smooth soulful funk and deep jazzy drum ‘n’ bass. All delivering a
positive message and warm earthy feels guaranteed to make you move.

LIONS GATE sound is rebellious and militant, raw and sophisticated. “PORTAL” is a mix of eclectic influences - imagine Fela Kuti, Funkadelic, Roots Radics and Portishead jamming at a Brooklyn house party.

LIONS GATE “PORTAL” is live instruments with electronic overdubs, expertly mixed by Alan Siegler at his analog studio Cardboard Alchemy in Brooklyn. Mastered by Eliyah Heinrich at Beyond Groove Studios in Zurich, Switzerland, and featuring horns by saxophonist Sean Nowell and trumpeter Dave Levy.

Marie Daulne is known as [Zap Mama] has been a mainstay on the World Music circuit, nearly 9 albums to her credit.
The most recent intitle album is ' Eclectic Breath’ an Acapella Dance Polyphonic, Urban-Latino and Afro-pop music [2019].
ZAPMAMA’S compositions blends World sounds and Popular Music creating a multi-cultural sound.

Brooklyn born fine artist/musician/educator I have played drums for over 30 years with such  acts as Sade and on projects such as top  selling "Dub Side of the Moon" Easy Star All Stars.

This music was created in a 3 month span, with hodge podge antiquated home studio equipment (old 80's casio's and a second hand sampler)

NYC based multi-media artist, musician, & educator with an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art.

Duv is a seasoned solo artist, studio vocalist, performer and composer. Native to the Bronx, NYC, Duv began his artistry as a dancer at The Bronx Dance Theatre, where he studied ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop styles of dance. There is a seamless connection between the finesse and fluidity of his voice and of his movement. Duv is known for his vocal range, musical versatility, looping and beatboxing. 

His passionate performances are infused with the warmth of his personality; a glimpse into his expansive heart. Duv has graced the stages of The Nuyorican, Arlene’s Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall, Nublu, and The Bowery Poetry Club. Duv was a featured artist at Joe’s Pub, BAM, The Brooklyn Museum, Galapagos, The Blue Note and The Highline Ballroom.

He is a founding member of the musical collective, Soul Inscribed. 

Duv is also a four time recipient of cultural ambassadorship for the US Department of State. He has performed and facilitated in Mexico, Russia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Mauritius, Holland, and Peru. He also has worked remotely with participants in Nigeria and around the U.S. 

He was a lead performer in the off-broadway show; "Cannabis! A Viper Vaudeville", depicting Pancho Villa as the “Hipster Trickster.” A Viper Vaudeville premiered July 2022 at The LaMama Theatre NYC, produced by HERE Arts Center. ( https://here.org/ )
