I saw a news report that Ryuichi Sakamoto has raised his voice in favor of reconsidering the redevelopment of the Meiji Jingu Gaien district, despite his health declining to the point where continuing music production is difficult. I can relate to this, as I have experienced times when I had no energy or motivation to make music during illness. Even Ryuichi Sakamoto feels that way, which is very sad.
The meaning of the kanji for music is divided into "on" and "gaku," with "on" meaning sound and "gaku" meaning "enjoyable, pleasant." The phrase "music is written as enjoying sound" is a familiar saying. Music can be both enjoyable and sad, but I believe that the act of creating music is, in a way, a positive experience that allows us to feel alive. Even if it is a sad song, when we create it, we are trying to overcome that sadness and become more positive. Music may indeed be powerless, but the power to create it comes from within, and that is something we must be grateful for today.

The piece plumbum is an electroacoustic work based on the contusion experience of a wounded Ukrainian soldier. I was very impressed when he talked about head injuries, illustrating them with sound. This sound fragment entered the work together with the recorded and processed sounds of vases of water, which were transformed into a dark moving texture. For me, it's like memories that play out in a head in accelerated, chaotic, and non-linear ways. It is as if we are traveling in a time train, but it moves deep and wide.
