On first listen Iggy Pop's Lust for Life doesn't sound particularly original. The drumbeat a lift of You Can't Hurry Love and the layers of additional percussion suggest the Stones' Sympathy for the Devil.

So what's the secret of this rock classic? In short, Iggy Pop's lyrics and performance. There's something joyously lunatic about the ecstatic delivery that propels the song along at super high speed.
