Recorded during the great pandemic crossing of 2020 - 2021, "Istmo", Sal Grosso's third record, retains the naive spirit of his previous works: there are 9 tracks of free structure that constitute as many soundscapes made of sugary melodies and undulating synthesizers - always captured on the first take. The record thus walks in such disparate - but close - territories as Ellen Fullman's drones, Lyra Pramuk's experimentations, Steve Hauschildt's psychedelic ambient, or the atmospheric jazz of Supersilent or The Necks. Make no mistake - this is a powerful, heartfelt record that perfectly illustrates the remarkable musical growth of Sal Grosso over the last couple of years.

Although the music was recorded and composed at home and in solitary mode by Sal Grosso, "Istmo" was finished at the nostalgic Quarto Escuro (Porto) with the precious help of Ricardo Cabral and José Miguel Silva (who had already been involved in the previous albums) in the production, mixing and mastering.

A Perpetual Host is Francisco Meirino’s fourth full-length, solo studio album on Misanthropic Agenda.
A deep dive into personal loss and the banalities of life and art, A Perpetual Host captures the raw, solitary, and often acerbic extremes that drive creation. Across four pieces, Meirino explores sonic tension and boredom, questioning the simplicity and complexity of the mundane with bursts of clarity that redefine existence itself.

Francisco Meirino is a Spanish sound artist based in Switzerland.

His music explores the tension between programmable material and the potential for its failure. His interest lies primarily in what is not supposed to be recorded : the end of life of electronic devices, electrostatic noise, magnetic fields and the unconventional use of music hardware and sound systems and how to exploit these sonic failures in radically different ways in his sound pieces.

His music combines intricate textures, sonic precision, wide spatial panning and is fascinating by its physical intensity and detail precision.

He mostly uses the modular synthesizer (Eurorack-Serge), various microphones, the computer, the field recorder, tape recorders and tape echoes, EMF detectors and various home-made electro-acoustic devices.

The Hong Kong native, Yanling has captured dance floors since 2013 with her bold style – where she perfected her robustly intricate musical flair. Today she is based between Berlin and Zurich, playing in big-name clubs like Tresor and RSO. She has also appeared in line-ups at music festivals and cultural institutions from NYC to Beijing. Her techno-orientated DJ sets are charged with energetic and mechanical intensity made up of bass-heavy percussions that infuse emotional power with her own brand of vivid futurism and atmospheric soundscapes. 

As a producer, Yanling has a hold on ranging dystopian-like sonic registers, mixed with a heavy float of airy synths. Her rhythmic cues are capped by a hypnotic display of raw impulses — involving a more cinematic sphere enveloped in ephemeral textures for her live performances. Merging sinister effects with a particular luminosity makes Yanling’s sound boundless, carrying listeners between both realms with her various experimental productions and live performances presented in institutional contexts.
