As I've written before, I'm a hardware guy. I love keyboards, drum machines and guitars too. But here's a scene-setting software based track, "cyberPunk" 🦾, that I did with Absynth in 2008.  

I had a blast making the photo, warping a real picture that I took of a real object, to match the music. It can be whatever futuristic, dark and dystopian thing you want it to be. 🤖

Terrain Reduction [G89R010 | G89 Records]

Terrain Reduction is a work inspired by Nicolas Bourriaud’s altermodernist theory. It reflects a similar sound of classic clicks & cuts music of Mille Plateaux, but is structured in a non-linear temporal space. By the use of amalgamate percussions and deep ambient landscapes in some of the tracks, Automatisme tries to make sound space apparent to an accumulation of layers through time, slowly building a topologic archipelago within the multi-temporal universe.

Unpronounceable, aka Mauro Rizla, an artist based in Amsterdam. He was born artistically in the early 90’s at “AudioMusicRadio”, a well-known radio station around his area during those years and later, in 2011 he started to work as a producer.

Captured live at the Klangspuren festival in Innsbruck, this work by Clara Iannotta offers the ensemble a verity of musical shifts between fragile gestures and sound fractures while the guitar is there to contribute a continuous colour, providing depth, dimension, ground and sky. Absolutely one of my favourite guitar parts in 2020. The ensemble playing is Klangforum Wien, conducted by Johannes Kalitzke.

Yaron Deutsch (Tel Aviv, 1978), is a guitarist mainly known for his work in the field of contemporary (classical) music. He is the founder and artistic director of the chamber quartet NIKEL and a frequent guest in Europe’s finest groups & orchestras dedicated to contemporary music. Most often he plays with the acclaimed Klangforum Wien & Musikfabrik ensembles.

As a soloist he performed with the Israeli Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai (Turin) & SWR Symphonieorchester; playing under conductors: Sylvain Camberling, Titus Engl, Peter Eötvös, Zubin Mehta, Emilio Pomàrico, Peter Rundel, Ilan Volkov & Bas Wiegers to name a few.

Recordings featuring his playing are available on Col Legno, Kairos, Neos, Sub Rosa and Wergo labels.

Apart from his performative activities, he is a professor for contemporary music at the University of Music in Basel (Hochschule für Musik FHNW / Sonic Space Basel) and guitar tutor at the Darmstadt International Summer Courses.
As well he directs the International Festival for Contemporary Chamber Music in Tel Aviv – “Tzlil Meudcan” (In Hebrew: “Updated Tone”).
