Welcome to Yax Invites. This is a mix series curated by myself, based in Adelaide, with the purpose of creating a library of quality mixes and showcasing talent from around the world.

Episode 1 is full of loopy, hypnotic, and trippy grooves, featuring tracks from many up and coming artists in the techno world.

Yax Invites #001 - Yax

After some plausible backstory the 88756 program was born - the first computer algorithm to be truly indistinguishable from man. Designed to explore concepts such as individuality and what it means to be human, it quickly adopted a creative pursuit in techno.

The program's sound consists of overly complex, evolving synthesis and the liberal butchering of drum machine samples - described by one individual as "the soundtrack to a futuristic pacman but like it's also a 3D shooter".

Its 3 years of activity have produced works available on many local and international imprints, including @connection-verified (Melbourne), @otomotrax and more recently Soma sub label @avoidantrecords.

Expect a journey through all things electro, techno, and industrial for episode 2 of Yax Invites.

Yax Invites #002 - 88756

Due to the great response I've had with the mix series so far, I've decided to release episodes weekly for the rest of the year. Dave.LK is my first international guest and is based out of Gothenburg, Sweden, offering up 90 minutes of straight up banging techno. Here are some words from him about the mix:

"I don't think I'm the only one that has dived into the loopier, oldschool sounds over the past couple years. This mix sits around 142-144 bpm, my favorite tempo range which I rarely move outside of. Starts off lighter and trippier and ends up in the heavier style which initially got me into techno.

The Dallas, Texas based producer who also goes under the alias of Cratan, has released a plethora of tracks throughout 2021 on various top quality labels around the globe, and it is a pleasure to have him on the series for Episode 5.

Yax Invites #005 - Decoder

Framework co-founder SJ takes the reins for Episode 4 of Yax Invites. Have a read of his bio below, along with some words about his contribution towards the mix series:

I am a 21-year-old DJ based in Manchester UK and co-founder of Manchester based collective and podcast series, Framework. 

My first route into electronic music was around the age of 15 where I started to get in to house music, leading me to gain a strong love for Chicago and Detroit house. Around this time, I basically used to spend hours listening to music on YouTube and through these algorithms I discovered tracks such as Black Russian and all DVS1s early Klockworks releases which remain some of my favourite pieces of music, with DVS1 being my idol and main source of inspiration, and essentially opened up a whole new musical world to me.

This in turn led me deeper into the electronic music spectrum, sparking an interest in Detroit techno, resulting in me seeing artists such as Robert Hood in my mid to late teens. Ever since I have built a strong passion for techno, delving deeper and deeper into the many different facets of the genre which has resulted in my current taste, revolving particularly around deep, sci-fi and mental hypnotic techno as I see this as more than just simply music, it is something much more powerful than that and the ability of music and sonics to alter your mind states and moods on the dance floor is something I find fascinating.

I love the concept of an extended mix series as I feel that extended mixes are the best way to truly portray your sound and tell your story, as opposed to feeling the need to hammer it out from the off which is the instinct that can arise with shorter mixes. 

For this mix I aimed to tell a story, weaving in different atmospheres and textures to build tension and have different twists and turns before ending on some groovier sounds and old school Detroit classics.

Ses talents en production et son esthétique EBM très particulière installent une atmosphère sombre, entre touches industrielles, acid et basses puissantes. Cette patte lui a permis d'attirer l'attention du lyonnais Umwelt, référence en la matière, et en a résulté un excellent premier EP sur son label Flesh or Die.

228 episodes later, we finally get to meet up again with the man from Buenos Aires based in Barcelona, Squaric, who has done everything but sit still in the last 5 years.

Here is a little recap for those who missed out; It all started at the end of 2007 when Rodrigo, due to his restless way of living life, organized his first rave in an abandoned gas station, from that moment until today he has been creating different projects and playing around the world nonstop. When he's behind turntables he loves to create and play with different moods and atmospheres, feeling the energy of the crowd is the fundamental element to completing his work. Over the years Squaric had the pleasure of playing at festivals and clubs, such as Tresor, Unpolished, Contact Tokyo, Dommune, Griessmuehle, Razzmatazz, About Blank, Suicide, BRET, Radion, VOFOL Seoul, & Metro Kyoto just to name a few.

His sets are filled with powerful and high-energy sounds held by well-crafted techniques, which led him to quickly gain a reputation for blending a wide range of genres in his vinyl sets, from Techno and Electro to more experimental electronica and IDM.

Es un acto de rebeldía respecto al estándar comportamental de una Sociedad. Precedida de honestidad y afán genuino de búsqueda, la disidencia requiere disciplina, templanza, equilibrio, espíritu recio y escasa implicación emocional.

El Sistema, al cual pertenecemos de facto, nos convierte en cómplices dóciles en cuanto validamos sus postulados sin conciencia, ni el menor atisbo de oposición intelectual. La disidencia controlada emana del engaño sobre personas sinceras, o de la orquestación teatral desde su mismo origen. En ambos casos, el resultado es presentar como válido un Caballo de Troya, con la aviesa finalidad de reconducir a los verdaderos disidentes hacia una trampa, donde acaban sirviendo a los supuestamente criticados.

Hailing from Bosnia, but currently living in Czech Republic, White aurA delivers groovy and hypnotic techno sounds, creating captivating mixes with frequencies of pure joy. She likes to perform sets that have a narrative, and finds special interest in intimate setups for her music to be enjoyed at.
 
White aurA is currently curating her own event Merak Sessions in Brno trying to give a deeper meaning to the current scene out there and to bring more diversity behind the DJ booth.

Dalibor Krc aka Loktibrada aka Olga + Josef  desde que se convierte en 1994 en Dj professional se ha ido curtiendo una carrera como dj y como productor que le han llevado por rincones de medio planeta gracias a sus producciones tanto como Loktibrada como con su seudónimo más famoso: Olga+Josef. Comenzó como residente en el legendario U Club de Bratislava junto a Tibor Holoda. Juntos pincharon cada viernes noche durante 5 años. Al proyecto se les unió en 1998 otro de los Djs más populares de Eslovaquia, Rumenige. El primer invitado internacional del club fue Jeff Mills en 1996 y la historia del club llegó a su fin en el 2003 habiendo acogido entre sus paredes a artistas como Regis & Female, Christian Wünsch & Óscar Mulero, Steve Bicknell, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, Andrew Weatherall, David Holmes, James Ruskin, Neil Landstrumm, Misjah, y un largo etcétera. Como productor debuta en 1996 con la primera referencia del mítico sello Antidandruff, siendo dos años más tarde cuando crea Olga+Josef (igual que su seudónimo más conocido), a la vez que publica producciones más experimental bajo el seudónimo de Kre para el sello Numb. En el 2000 junto a Brano/Standa crea un nuevo label donde publicar música de productores eslovacos como internacionales. De nombre Palicavonzvreca, en sus referencias podemos encontrar a artistas de la talla de Pacou, Takaaki Itoh, Hardcell, Regis, Female, Óscar Mulero, Christian Wünsch, Boss, HU, o Rumenige. Dos años más tarde logra entrar en el catálogo de Tresor con el EP Petrzalka que produce junto a Rumenige. En el 2004 publica un cd mix en Antidandruff junto a Rumenige titulado Evergreens & Everblacks. Como remezclador durante todos estos años ha metido mano en producciones de Óscar Mulero, Function, Hardcell, Mark Broom, Makaton, HU, Fanon Flowers, Radial o Takaaki Itoh.
