Biography:
Half-tempo and unusual soundscapes are the hallmarks of Techno producer, live act and DJ Liza Aikin. In her Berlin studio, she is dedicated to tailor made music production, always looking to recreate the sound she was missing in her dj sets, with her favorite tools: field recordings and modular synthesizers.
Her work has been released on labels such as Mord Records, Emetic, Decoy Records and OBSCUUR.

Welcome to Yax Invites. This is a mix series curated by myself, based in Adelaide, with the purpose of creating a library of quality mixes and showcasing talent from around the world.

Episode 1 is full of loopy, hypnotic, and trippy grooves, featuring tracks from many up and coming artists in the techno world.

Yax Invites #001 - Yax

After some plausible backstory the 88756 program was born - the first computer algorithm to be truly indistinguishable from man. Designed to explore concepts such as individuality and what it means to be human, it quickly adopted a creative pursuit in techno.

The program's sound consists of overly complex, evolving synthesis and the liberal butchering of drum machine samples - described by one individual as "the soundtrack to a futuristic pacman but like it's also a 3D shooter".

Its 3 years of activity have produced works available on many local and international imprints, including @connection-verified (Melbourne), @otomotrax and more recently Soma sub label @avoidantrecords.

Expect a journey through all things electro, techno, and industrial for episode 2 of Yax Invites.

Yax Invites #002 - 88756

Due to the great response I've had with the mix series so far, I've decided to release episodes weekly for the rest of the year. Dave.LK is my first international guest and is based out of Gothenburg, Sweden, offering up 90 minutes of straight up banging techno. Here are some words from him about the mix:

"I don't think I'm the only one that has dived into the loopier, oldschool sounds over the past couple years. This mix sits around 142-144 bpm, my favorite tempo range which I rarely move outside of. Starts off lighter and trippier and ends up in the heavier style which initially got me into techno. 
Enjoy!"

Yax Invites #003 - Dave.LK

https://soundcloud.com/codecrecs owner and https://soundcloud.com/espcollective co-founder Decoder makes his mark on Yax Invites with a 2 hour mix full of stripped back rhythms layered with sci-fi soundscapes that encapsulate his loopy and minimal style of techno. 

The Dallas, Texas based producer who also goes under the alias of Cratan, has released a plethora of tracks throughout 2021 on various top quality labels around the globe, and it is a pleasure to have him on the series for Episode 5.

Yax Invites #005 - Decoder

Framework co-founder SJ takes the reins for Episode 4 of Yax Invites. Have a read of his bio below, along with some words about his contribution towards the mix series:

I am a 21-year-old DJ based in Manchester UK and co-founder of Manchester based collective and podcast series, Framework. 

My first route into electronic music was around the age of 15 where I started to get in to house music, leading me to gain a strong love for Chicago and Detroit house. Around this time, I basically used to spend hours listening to music on YouTube and through these algorithms I discovered tracks such as Black Russian and all DVS1s early Klockworks releases which remain some of my favourite pieces of music, with DVS1 being my idol and main source of inspiration, and essentially opened up a whole new musical world to me.

This in turn led me deeper into the electronic music spectrum, sparking an interest in Detroit techno, resulting in me seeing artists such as Robert Hood in my mid to late teens. Ever since I have built a strong passion for techno, delving deeper and deeper into the many different facets of the genre which has resulted in my current taste, revolving particularly around deep, sci-fi and mental hypnotic techno as I see this as more than just simply music, it is something much more powerful than that and the ability of music and sonics to alter your mind states and moods on the dance floor is something I find fascinating.

I love the concept of an extended mix series as I feel that extended mixes are the best way to truly portray your sound and tell your story, as opposed to feeling the need to hammer it out from the off which is the instinct that can arise with shorter mixes. 

For this mix I aimed to tell a story, weaving in different atmospheres and textures to build tension and have different twists and turns before ending on some groovier sounds and old school Detroit classics.

Yax Invites #004 - SJ

My next guest on Yax Invites is Leopold Bär from Vienna, Austria, serving us with a deep, groovy, and tribal techno mix for Episode 11. Have a read of his bio below:

Hello my name is Leopold Bär. I live in Austria and play and produce techno since 1999. I used this set on Yax Invites to play some of the tracks I have enjoyed the most over the years.

The set contains tracks from 1993 to today and I aimed to catch the 2000 tribal techno vibe a little but primarily I wanted to make a set that will make you feel good and forget about the other shit and just move on and have a good time. 

I really fell in love with this kind of vibe and mixing songs together since I listened to a Ben Sims mix Cd called Ben Sims / Christian Smith – Essential Underground Vol. 07 - EU07: New York City/London. There are the greatest transitions in techno in it. Awesome. I like it when a set has this kind of unsync vibe when the tracks start to play with each other. 

I really hope you enjoy the mix.

Yax Invites #011 - Leopold Bär

DCM is back on Dissident Music for this second reference building the foundations of the label. The release contains 4 tracks of pure techno with a sci-fi /mystical touch as usual on DCM’s productions.
Black Stain EP represents the romantic side that most things bad considered by society has, full of freedom and beauty.
All the cuts of the release contain groovy bass drum, changing polyrhythmic drum sequences, and ethereal pads, synths and baselines that transport the listener to another dimension.

Albert Chiovenda - Turning To Stone [IARLTDCSTXV2]

This set is part of the @beatsdonor charity campaign, in which electronic music artists encourage people to register with bone marrow donor bases to save the lives of children suffering from leukemia. #beatsdonor

Vlaeminck is defined by a dark experimental look where his stylistic freedom releases the ordinary to weave a personal and defined electronic style. He is a music producer and thorough creator of gloomy nuances. He innovates with techno music and experimental  patterns that empathise with the most demanding ear for electronic sounds. 
He is an artist of forceful rhythms that can be sensed in every Live. By means of analogical instruments, he wraps his sessions in dark harmonies and contrasts with unique, seductive, and functional effects for the untiring dance floor.
Along his musical career, he has edited on labels such as Rhod Records, Shēdo Lab, Analog Solutions, Diffuse Reality with which he made his first full-length album, Unknown Movements, Soptik, HG2, Shift Functions. In the latter, he has collaborated  with Eduardo de la Calle in the production of the latest limited edition of his vinyl.
