Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Ryan James Ford

During the 1990’s while growing up in western Canada, Ryan James Ford was introduced to electronic music through the local rave and club scene. He began to discover, study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno,House, IDM, and ambient.
Fast forward many years later to Berlin, where Ryan and his productions found a solid home on the legendary Clone records from Rotterdam and has other production’s on Anetha’s Mama Told Ya, Ida’s SÄVY, Marcel Dettmann’s MDR, Answer Code Request’s ACR, Dream Ticket, and his own label SHUT. PLUR is the new record label from Ryan James Ford. The inaugural release 'Ripping EP' begins a new path of club focused tracks from himself and other like-minded contemporaries. PLUR will act as a tool to discover new energy on modern dance floors.

Ryan’s sets and productions are rich with inspiration from his time spent living in Calgary where he had interests not only in electronic music but also in hip hop, post rock, reggae, jazz, experimental, and even some interest in metal. He began experimenting with production in the early 2000’s but it wasn’t until 2013, with a move to Berlin, that he started investigating his musical capabilities seriously.
Even though two decades have passed since Ryan’s introduction to electronic music, his love for early Warp, Metalheads, Metroplex, Novamute, Skam, Downwards, etc. can still be heard resoundingly clear in the strength and versatility of his productions and sets. The future will see Ford continue to play out and release on labels that share his like-minded affiliation and roots in the electronic music community.

Hotflush On Air #055 - Biemsix Guest Mix

EPM Podcast 172 comes from Rommek. As a well-established artist, Rommek has expanded his own sound, carving his way into the current techno and experimental scenes since 2013.  His extensive interest in sound design is crafted within the dense atmospheres, heavy broken rhythms and electrifying tones found within his productions. You can also find these influences in Rommek’s DJ selection, as exemplified here with a mix that goes from frenetic tribal percussion to granular sonic architecture at the flick of a switch. Featuring the likes of Tommy Four Seven, Trunkline, SLV, Benjamin Damage, ANDROM, Damon Vallero, Reeko, Tauceti, Kwartz and more Rommek applies his crafted, electronic detail to a sweat-soaked, smoke-filled rave. 

Rommek joined the seminal Blueprint Records in 2016, releasing five EPs, gaining remixes from label owner James Ruskin, Broken English Club, O/V/R (Ruskin & Regis) and Makaton, which established his position on the map. Since then, a steady output of releases on Leyla Records, Natural Selection, Mord, Hex, Loose Lips and collaborative release with the Spanish duo NX1 has expanded his discography. Fast forward to 2023, Rommek’s creative techniques were pushed further when making his debut on Tommy Four Seven’s - 47 imprint, exploring futuristic techno fused with 180 BPM genre crossovers.

Torn Relics, the experimental project between Rommek + Aimee Mullen was formed during 2018. Their debut EP, The Poisoned Chalice, released on Sacred Court, featured a remix by label owner SNTS. In 2020 the duo’s debut album: Abolish The Dogma, was released on Leyla Records, followed by ‘Burning Injustice’ in 2021 via Instruments of Discipline.
 
Since releasing over 15 EPs, Rommek has gained a wide range of noteworthy support, from BBC Radio 1, to many features and reviews in Mixmag, The Wire, The Quietus and Faze magazine. In 2018 he was featured within the top 100 globally charted artists on Resident Advisor. Furthermore, as a touring DJ, he has played in over 20 countries around the globe. From this, it’s clear that Rommek is driven to continue expanding his capabilities and keep things moving forward.

During the late 90s and early 2000s, Demo was a dynamic force in the music scene, enthusiastically hosting and performing at a diverse array of events. His deep love and passion for Techno and House music were the guiding forces in his artistic journey.

Prague-based Eva Falt (@pureevil-2) is a lifelong techno fan who recently upgraded her experience to DJing and organizing events as part of the Weltraum Collective (@weltraum-weltraum). 
A victim of the depth of her passion and perfectionism, the standards she sets are high. She treats every performance with the utmost attention and care to create something special.

Over the past months, Eva has DJed at some of her favourite local places in Prague, such as @ankali_club, @altenburg1964, @bike.jesus, @formerly.grid.center, @swimspace, or @crosscluboffucial.

With Weltraum, she’s co-produced a series of raves that have featured both local and international guests. The joy of creating complex experiences for the lovely crowds that gather at the Weltraum events has been Eva’s major driving engine.

Leading up to his debut Tresor release Backward Improvement, @ufo95ufo95 has prepared a mix of ultra forward motion and cavernous four to the floor thumps. Starting with tense dissonant chords and sparse hits reverberating in a sci-fi atmosphere, the mix launches us into an hour of hefty techno shuffles, and rebounding rhythms and rumbles. Alongside the unreleased cuts are select tracks from the Sandwell District crew, like ‘Hunting Lodge’ with icy grains flowing between synth stabs while heaving kicks pulsate and implode. “I made this mix on Ableton and added some 909 jams. The major part of the mix contains my unreleased tracks mixed with techno classics from Sandwell District, Silent Servant, Shifted & more. I went through deep, hypnotic, dub and club oriented techno during these 60 minutes.”

Mislaw is a techno producer and DJ with a passion for electronic sound that dates back to his youth. He started producing at the age of 16 and has since created a wide range of music, including tracks featured in movies, spectacles, and TV shows. Having graduated from a music school in the piano class, Mislaw brings a natural musicality to his productions, resulting in a sound that is both nuanced and captivating.

In 2024 he released his solo EP for renowned BCCO Berlin, and made appearances on labels such as Duplicity Edeinburgh or Ri7mo from Buenos Aires. His releases have been promoted by influential channels including Voxnox Berlin, Polish Technology, HATE, or Antidote Amsterdam, and his tracks have already appeared in spaces such as Berghain, Khidi, Tresor, Anomalie, or the renowned HÖR stream. 

Outside his home country, Mislaw has performed on stages in South Korea, Sweden, Germany, Italy and beyond, both as a solo artist and with electro-folk band 'Krzikopa’.

Additionally, he is a co-founder of the Wrocław-based record label and collective 'Całość'.
