The Album's Concept: Everyone has a story, One story; The Monomyth. You are the main character. To understand the nature of story and what it means to us is to understand your own life path. Monomyth Separation is Part One of the Hero’s Journey. Will you accept the call to adventure? 

This album was born during my first big tour of Greece. I played 10 cities and travelled around the whole country playing my music. I received such great energy and feedback from fans that I decided I must make a project inspired by the trip, so I started digging! I collected records from around Greece; some traditional greek music plus other nice bits that I found. Whilst I was traveling, I was trying to come up with a concept that would tell the tale of a great journey. And of course, as I was in Greece ideas of myth and legend came to mind. So, when I returned home I researched a few things and stumbled across a theory by a philosopher and writer called Joseph Campbell. Basically, he wrote a book called “The hero with a thousand faces” in which he describes a theory that all great stories share; common elements - that they are all one story, a Monomyth. Is there a deeper meaning to why we tell stories? Are they a road map for our very existence, and a way to describe the cycle of life, death and rebirth? Due to this the album is very cinematic. I try to tell a story, but I want the listener to decide what that story is. The album will be best enjoyed as a whole so please find a quiet time to settle in and enjoy the ride.

Historically Casablanca has been known as a global melting pot; a place where cultures mingle and fuse. This quality is evident in the dazzling music of Casablanca-based beat-maker and guitarist saib., who, after EP releases on Cult Classic Records and Japan’s Introducing! label, has revealed his debut long-player, the appropriately titled Around The World album for Cold Busted. These tunes showcase saib.’s worldly vibe, tied together with his intricate guitar playing which deftly keeps up with all the styles represented on the album. Hip hop beats form the backbone as saib.’s musical palette skips from jazz flavors to lounge experiments to Asian textures … and sometimes within a single track. Highlights include the dance floor stomp of “Casablanca Funk”, “Don’t Be Lonely Tonight”’s jazzy sing-a-long groove, the kung fu beats and gentle melodies in “Shanghai Nights”, and the dreamy “In The Mountains” which highlights saib.’s exceptional guitar technique. Greece's Melting Records close out 2017 with welcome return of the Tales of Another Direction compilation, now in its second volume. Tales of Another Direction Vol. 2 brings back some exciting Melting Records mainstays and introduces promising new talent, confirming the label's ear-to-the-ground taste-making prowess. The ten track collection – not including the 'bonus track' – is an aural journey in the best sense of the term, leading the listener down a jazzy pathway paved with trip hop, downtempo, and chilled electronic delights.

Tales of Another Direction Vol. 2 opens with the seductive "Flyentists" by French producer Screenatorium, featuring beautiful, smokey vocals and hazy, lazy rhythms. "Deep Water" – by Renegades of Jazz side-project Keno – continues this intoxicating vibe with its beachside sounds, organ and loungey horn loops, and beckoning female vocal snippets. Other strong highlights include the classic trip hop sound of Kognitif's "Flamant Rose", Skinshape and Jon Moody's '70s noir throwback "Oboe Diddly", the tough, choppy beats and trippy sitar of "Growth Strategies" by Niles Philips (Timewarp, Inc), and the hypnotic "Primeira Sessão" by MPC bandits Billa Qause and Mononome.
