▌I What’s your favorite club and what’s your favorite festival - explain why!
My favorite club is actually not really a club but it's the place where I've been hosting events since late 2015. It's a small venue in my hometown. Inside a greenhouse we dance the night away. It's like being in your own living room with your best friends.
Regarding my favorite festival... this is a tough one. But I think I will go for Wildeburg, the (much smaller) equivalent to Fusion in terms of getting lost, decoration etc. The crowd is very nice, the location is magical and the whole production is just top notch. I've been part of it for some years now and it's always a highlight.

▌II Did your approach on creating music change during the pandemic and did it maybe even influence your style?
During the pandemic, I kind of stepped away from the more organic downtempo sound and explored the more electronic/deep house spectrum. As I like many styles of music, I don't like doing just one thing, I get bored easily. So I still keep creating a lot of stuff. There are a few EPs in the works, excited to share it soon.

▌III How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
I just got back from a lovely time in Berlin, playing in Klunkerkranich :-) We did a labelnight with the Magician of Duty family. It inspired me to work on this mix the week after I returned. The mix contains some of my upcoming releases, some edits I play in my sets, and tracks by other talented people.

Happy 2024 everyone! Here's my closing set from the first Wayward of the new year! It was an awesome event, with Stoa (@stoamusic), Shiva Tiffany (@shivatiffany), and Phleck (@djphleck) playing some killer sets before me. 

Towards the end of my set, Shiva Tiffany proposed we play a little B2B (something we had talked about for a long time), and so we went for it... and the F8 crew let us go as long as we possibly could!

Born and raised in Guanajuato, México has been living for the past 9 years in Oslo, Norway. Having spent most of his childhood in the mountain hills of the Mexican "bajío" with his indigenous ancestors brought a big influence to his life. Pre-hispanic, folkloric, Latin-American, tribal, and shamanic sounds conform to an essential part of his musical exploration. This is for him, a way to keep his roots alive. Saul introduces complex sets, giving as result a multi-cultural sounds journey that appears to transport you to ancient rituals, always by the hand, naturally, of powerful and hypnotic basslines. Oslo has welcomed him with open arms and he's now earned the city's nightlife respect due to his consistent work. With his international debut show at iconic party Woomoon Ibiza, he's proven his talent goes beyond borders and it's ready to turn the dancefloor into the party everyone wishes to experience.

Camel Riders Trips 027 -  Saul Sanchez

Yaz is a San Francisco-based DJ who enjoys playing tech house, deep tech, minimal, and techno. He is an active member of the Burning Man community and underground house/techno community in San Francisco.

Yaz has played all over San Francisco at all the major venues, including Public Works, Mighty / The Great Northern, Monarch, Midway, and Halcyon. He was a resident DJ at the venerated Wish Lounge for 5+ years, running his monthly Wayward party right up until the pandemic caused Wish to close. Once it was safe to do so, he has taken Wayward to its new home F8 Nightclub, and has been a resident there since August 2021. 

Yaz has collaborated with many different promoters and labels, and has opened and closed for (or shared billing with) well-known artists including John Digweed, Bob Moses, The Scumfrog, Tommy Four Seven, John Monkman, Technasia, and Marques Wyatt, to name a few.

His love for Burning Man is only rivaled by his love for music. His styles go from deep tech, minimal and techno to indie dance. You can find him on the playa playing for his camp DeMentha, and everywhere else for The Janky Barge, Airpusher, and Icarus. Yaz has also participated in many fundraisers in San Francisco for the aforementioned camps, as well as DISTRIKT, Mayan Warrior, the Salty Jacks, and others.
