After a couple of long years of life in the default world due to the pandemic, the DeMentha crew finally started to prepare for their return to Black Rock City in August 2022! We had a collective of minty DJs depend upon F8 on Aug 18 for Wayward: Return of the Mint! It was a glorious night, filled with familiar faces from around the world, every one of us excited to finally be returning home )'(

Distrikt Fundraiser @ The Great Northern SF // 2023.05.06

What an incredible night! I was invited back to play a set for one of my favourite Burning Man crews, the Salty Jacks, at their annual fundraiser on June 3, 2023. For those of you counting, yes, it was my three-peat! The Jacks found us an incredible space in Chinatown, where we all got dressed up in our disco best and had a wild night of dancing and good vibes! I joined a lineup of fantastic DJs, including friends and frequent collaborators Von Davis and Jess + Nate Mordo, as well as GAL and SumDim! And to top it all off, this night kicked off my birthday week. 44 never felt so good!

The July edition of Wayward was a blast! I got to open up the room for David Alec (Pink Mammoth), Friedlander (Camp Synthesis), and Redbloom, and all of them played some excellent tunes! We had a great crowd from start to finish! Since I was on opening duties, I played a little more funky and upbeat than my usual style -- a rare opportunity for me :)

Wayward at F8 // Jan 2024

This past visit to the Black Rock Desert in 2023, my wonderful friends at the Groundswell camp invited me to come play a guest set on the Kuker art car. As anybody who knows me can tell you, DJing on art cars and DJing at DeMentha are my two very favourite things to do at TTITD, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity. This was the set I played that Tuesday night in the deep playa. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Hope you enjoy!

Wayward at F8 // April 2025

On a cold and dark Friday night, a group of revelers entered a windswept, sandy, iconic location within the San Francisco city limits, looking out over the ocean. We had lights, we had sound, we had fire, and we had each other, as we danced under the open sky and celebrated our quirky lives in the name of helping to bring some beautiful art out to the Black Rock Desert.

Here is the set that I played that night for old and new friends, ending with an impromptu (and all-too-brief) B2B with my brother @estebanchengmusic. Hope you like it!

Wayward at F8 // May 2025

It's always an honour and a privilege to be invited to play for one of my favourite crews on and off playa, the Salty Jacks! This year for their annual fundraiser, they whisked us off to a tropical island filled with colourful flora, sweaty dancing fauna, and just so much bass. I rounded up a solid lineup consisting of @adam-iko @jessica-mordo @natemordo @roxanneroll and @alexoxley, and got to lay down some darkness during the witching hour!

To wrap things up, @adam-iko and I did a little B2B, so keep an eye out for that release as well, coming soon to a SoundCloud near you!

Yaz Live at Salty Jacks Present: The Night Lotus

We gathered on May 24 for two major occasions: our dear friend Ina was having a milestone birthday, and Ina, David, and their daughter Emilia were preparing to move to Denmark. Naturally, we gathered for one big night together before their departure. I hopped on the decks kind of impromptu to play a few tracks and, well, 4 1/2 hours later I hopped off ;-)

"Vi Ses Senere" is Danish for see you later. This definitely isn't goodbye, but until next time, Skål!

On June 14, 2025, DeMentha threw a party at Swig SF to get our friends together and celebrate the upcoming summer solstice. It also happened to coincide with my birthday weekend. I got to play a set alongside @kittykatmuzikk and @phillybe, and then enjoy a live performance by @oganic! With @dementha sound and lights, we turned a revered cocktail bar into a nightclub and danced the night away.

A few weeks back, the Robot Ears crew invited me to play the lounge at F8 for the San Francisco debut of French techno selector Anetha! It was a great opportunity to share decks once again with my homey Sean Raya as we took over the back room.

Stylistically, this set is a spiritual successor to my Wednesday set from DeMentha at Burning Man 2019. Very spacey, cosmic, bouncy, and driving beats to get that posterior moving. I hope you like it!

Yearning Man 2020

LIVE at DeMentha In Absentia 2020

Yaz is a San Francisco-based DJ who enjoys playing tech house, deep tech, minimal, and techno. He is an active member of the Burning Man community and underground house/techno community in San Francisco.

Yaz has played all over San Francisco at all the major venues, including Public Works, Mighty / The Great Northern, Monarch, Midway, and Halcyon. He was a resident DJ at the venerated Wish Lounge for 5+ years, running his monthly Wayward party right up until the pandemic caused Wish to close. Once it was safe to do so, he has taken Wayward to its new home F8 Nightclub, and has been a resident there since August 2021. 

Yaz has collaborated with many different promoters and labels, and has opened and closed for (or shared billing with) well-known artists including John Digweed, Bob Moses, The Scumfrog, Tommy Four Seven, John Monkman, Technasia, and Marques Wyatt, to name a few.

His love for Burning Man is only rivaled by his love for music. His styles go from deep tech, minimal and techno to indie dance. You can find him on the playa playing for his camp DeMentha, and everywhere else for The Janky Barge, Airpusher, and Icarus. Yaz has also participated in many fundraisers in San Francisco for the aforementioned camps, as well as DISTRIKT, Mayan Warrior, the Salty Jacks, and others.
