Marcio Vermelho is a veteran in the Brazilian club scene, DJing and producing since the early 00’s and holding residencies at various venues in his home town São Paulo. Famed for his eclectic range I found early on that a Vermelho mix could take on any number of different styles, themes and sounds, everything from acid to disco, and always deliver something special. His Métron Musik Mixtape is no different.

Márcio has put together a collection of tracks that are incredibly special to him, the majority taken from some of his favourite records from the 70’s and 80’s. Played on headphones it's a cinematic, hallucinogenic trip through a city after dark, street lights, high spirits, corner boys, street dancers and enigmatic characters abound. Played in the club it's a euphoric funk adventure with enough heart, soul and tension to bring a room to climax. Either way you spin it, it's a joyous listening experience ending on one of my personal favourite pieces of music, the recently reissued Mariah - Shinzo No Tibira. 

He'll be playing in São Paulo on November 7th alongside Carrot Green, Juju & Jordash and others at an event called ODD. Get down.

Ilya Santana, a native from the Canary Islands, discovered his passion for music 20 years ago through his father’s love for artists like Alan Parsons, Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder and many others. When he listened to music something was awoken in him, he was compelled to listen to everything he could get his hands on and feed his ferocious appetite.  In 1995 Santana began carving out a name for himself as a local DJ by playing at all the best nightclubs in Gran Canaria. His musical evolution required that he set moral and ethical boundaries by closing the doors on substandard music; he vowed only to make and share that music with his audience, which he felt was truly worthy. This decision required the continuous study of technology, which in turn allowed him to demonstrate his musical vision, whether he was DJing or composing.

His first release was on Daniel Wang’s label Balihu. Wang believed in his talent from the beginning and helped him greatly on his quest. Ilya has since then released music on several other respected labels like Tirk, Permanent Vacation, Airtight, Hoog Choons & Gomma – as well as remixing artists like Human league, Space, Zodiac, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Lindstrom, Sugardaddy, Proper Heat, and many more!

His need to express himself has taken him to create his own live show where he selects his most successful and danceable tracks, he has worked hard to offer a show where the most demanding can enjoy a dynamic and effective event where Ilya plays in all and each of its tracks.

In 2018 Ilya released a new record label named Astrolead Recordings, the label is focused on his own musical projects, the most underground sound of the modern electronic album. Astrolead has also released artists like Rayko, Julian Sanza, Tad Willi, The Beat Broker and Rune Linbdaek.
