EMPIRIKAL are one of the most promising and upcoming trance duos Israel has to offer. Formed in 2013 by Nimrod Gorovich and Dekel Kamiosky, their own unique and groundbreaking sound and style mixes new-wave with progressive and uplifting psytrance. Performing non-stop at raves and parties, EMPIRIKAL are one of the most active and busy artists in the local rave scene today.

EMPIRIKAL's debut track, 'Dark Angel', was released on a compilation of the legendary label TIP Records and immediately caught the duo much attention. A second track, 'Good Q.' was released on an Iboga Records compilation and a debut E.P is due for release on TIP Records this November.

Growing up together at a small village in the northern part of Israel, Nimrod and Dekel's music is inspired by authentic tribal beats, psychedelic experiences, nature, and most of all: The joy of creating music. Their sound is influenced by artists like Simon Posford, LOUD, Infected Mushroom, Psysex, Mamady Keïta and more. Nimrod's background as a composer and musician, combined with Dekel's background as a DJ, creates a rich musical style that's both fun to listen to and gets the dance floor going wild!

Traveltech's first release on ICONYC (formerly 238W) back in March was received to high acclaim - with big support from the likes of Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Sasha, Cid Inc. and many more at the time. With his long awaited return to ICONYC, Taveltech delivers a humdinger of a track fittingly titled 'Invasion. The track kicks things off nicely with its melancholic moodiness shining through as we meander effortlessly through tech inspired melodies, while the sultry chords sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth.

Greek supremo Ziger, famed for his intricate and refined productions is first up. His rework creates tension from the word go, as the atmospheric and driving vibe keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces that keeps building to culminate into a true prime time club monster. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a stunning glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up is label all star RiZa, known for his polished and refined sound, who keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general drive all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding totally fresh - This mystical touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious groove graces the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove, confirming that Alfonso really is a man at the top of his game.

Subconscious Tales - Aura EP [Suffused Music, SMD158]

Much like the name suggests, Subconscious Tales brings to us Aura, a beautiful four track EP, set to travel deep within us. With an ever-steadily growing repertoire, Subconscious Tales teams up with Loco-Volver, Soulfinder and Stage Van H on remix duties, creating an intensely melodic release that all true Prog lovers will embrace excitedly.

The original mix comes in with a strong start, a powerful kick with light pads that well until the track is ready to really take off. Lighthearted percussion and a deep, rolling bass make up the meat of this masterful piece. By the time the breakdown comes in, listeners have already been transported to a magical place of melodies and with a type of euphoria, the bass is welcomed back in after the perfectly timed drop. The original mix is perfect to warm up or cool down a floor and really get people tuned into their emotions.

Loco-Volver introduces the funky flavor to the EP with his upbeat and bassy remix. The bass is the stand out quality in this one. With a disco-esque roll and rumble, the bass plays peek-a-boo with the understated high hats that act as a compliment to the whole track, encouraging it along. The breakdown, a moment of mysticism, as listeners are left hanging, happily suspended until takeoff. Loco-Volver folds it all together harmoniously and has created a real gem perfect to incite introspective moments on the dance floor.

Stage Van H deepens things with his remix, noticeably, on the first note. The kick in this remix takes control of listeners with an authoritative and confident cadence and by the time the synths are introduced, anyone on the dance floor will be under this track’s complete control. The euphonic synth lead really plays a part in this remix by acting in comparison to the intensity of the kick. As if in a yin-yang partnership, all elements of Stage Van H’s remix stay tuned, locked and in absolute polyphony.

Soulfinder brings us the techiest of all versions. His percussion is center stage and he takes listeners on a different journey than the other 3 tracks on the EP. The beat is upfront, the pads and synths step back into the mix as an ambient, subconscious addition that listeners can process and feel good about but still move under the direction of the percussion. Very progressive in composition, Soulfinder’s remix continuously grows as it plays, until all sounds are upfront and ready for their moment to shine.

Cosma is Avihen Livne, born 1979, from Kiryat Bialik near Haifa, Israel. Avihen started his musical way in the dark clubs of Haifa and the area, listening to new wave and more electronic stuff: Depech Mode, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Front 242 etc... "Then trance arrived" (95), he said, and put some consciousness between everybody's feet and brain. That affected him as well, and after years of parties he started to make music in 1998, as he has been into computers since he was very young, making music with the computer was natural to him.

He worked first with Benny Risher as Diablo. They released one Album in 1999 - 'Insufficient Memory'. In 2000 Avihen started to work under the name Cosma (suggested by DJ Jorg of SST). Avihen said a lot has changed since in the way he grasped music and in the making of it. Part of it was thanks to working together with other artists like Ido Ophir (Domestic) and Erez Aizen (Infected Mushroom) who helped him alot to develop and grow up. "It's very helpful to learn the way another mind operates and to see a different Wayof working ". He released quite a few tracks on compilations and in September 2001 Avihen released his debut solo album 'Simplicity'. This album was considered a milestone release in every aspect as Avihen found a new formula of Israeli trance that swept the world off its feet. He took the direction of trance into a broader perspective; "Simplicity" was characterized by a big clear quality sound cruising through a deeper vibe, taking in funky beat, progressive, electronics and ambience while sounding fresh all the way.

"If you were in the right mood, "Simplicity" could be a religious experience" (DJ magazine).

After the release of this album, Cosma became an established name and he performed live all around the globe. Avihen moved on to signing his new album, "Nonstop", to the Israeli label HOMmega. In this album he swept many influences which made 'Nonstop' a juicy and innovative journey into trance. Dark and pounding, not for lightweights, Cosma's music rocks your core without beating your brains out, all while keeping his famous trademark - his unique cosmic atmosphere.

Avihen was about to release his 2nd album, "Nonstop", on March 2003. Following the album's release, he was scheduled for a massive world tour and in order to prepare himself for this exciting stage of his musical career,he decided to take some time off in Goa, India. On February 10th, while driving back from Palulim beach to his hotel, he was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was hospitalized, but despite all medical efforts, he passed away.

He was a special person, a good friend and a talented musician who was loved by all. A person who had so much in him that he could give so much to others with his music that was played, heard and hailed worldwide.

His music is his legacy. Remember him forever!
